this is guna seem dumb but thats why it's in the noob section
anyways, I've had my sunfire now for about a year and before I got this car I new nothing about them... now it seems like I know even less because It seems that most of the reading is about 2L, 2.2L, 2.3L, I understand there are many parts that can be inchanged.I guess I 'm look for a place to start, I was wondering why when I say I have a 2.4 people think that I'm on crack ?? is it called something else?? and why do people think that cav's are so much better, they're pretty similar cars?? arn't they??
cavs and fires are the same. just different bodys. so on this site will say fires are better and vice versa. when they really are not. the fires do have a nicer interior though

most start with an intake. they can range in price $40-$200. and they are all the same. no difference between the $40 ones you see on ebay to the $200 ones AEM sells.

im taking a wild guess here. im thinknig they know nothing about cars
Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
I dunno. I call the 2.4 the Twin Cam, but I think I am the only one
Mod wise, its a solid motor, better after market than the 2200...
"The Blue Bullet"
I guess I should say I need a good place to start to learn about my engine.... I think more often than not there are noob posts of which mods to do, I guess I'm looking for more info than mods, this site seems to have many options/opinions on mods.... I guess what sparked my interest was the other day I got a car report.... one from carfax and another now they both say the same things about my car minor fender and so on but one says 2.4L PFI DOHC and the other SFI.... whats the diff and why are they not the same or are they?? more reliable info I'm intrested in at the moment
the SFI is the 2200 motor that came in the j-body. forget what it stands for. PFI not sure.
but a good place to start learning about your car is buying a hayness manual. $12 or so at any auto parts store

Synchonous Fuel Injection
My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again

Are you sure it said "PFI" and not "MPFI."
MPFI stands for Multi-Point Fuel Injection

"Youth in Asia"...I don't see anything wrong with that.
k, I do have a haynes, and I'm reading it but I only understand half of what I'm reading lol pics help out alot though... but as to the PFI and the SFI carfax says I have a 2.4L PFI DOHC, then lemon says 2.4 SFI DOHC, so if the 2200 is the SFI then why does my vin# come up with both depending on where I search... I'm just trying to find info that I can actually trust, finding info on sunfires and cavs seems to acutally, be reasonably easy but what the hell going on when you pay good money to search your vin# to find out a little history about your car and the info they give you is about a different engine??? so the difference between the to is just the number of places that fuel actually enters(PFI would have 4 apposed to 1??)?? and I would have the PFI or MPFI I guess it should be???
on to a different topic I was looking at the different pacesetter headers and I was wondering what the diff was between the 4-2-1 and the 4-1 in theory I would think that the 4-1 wouldn't bottle up as much but I was wondering if that actually true or not cause in theory alot of things work

the 4-1 is said to give more top end power
4-2-1 is said to give more low to mid range power

There is no such thing as PFI. It was a typo for MPFI. The LD9 2.4L TwinCam is both a MPFI and SFI. Which acronym a site uses is up to who's writing it. MPFI has multiple fuel injectors, one for each cylinder.
SFI has multiple injectors that do not "fire" together. The 4 injector work independently.
The 2.4 is not:
TBI, throttle body injection, two injectors at the throttle body is the most common.
TPI, tuned port injection, one injector for each bank of cylinders. Only applies to V engines.
CPI, if a funky thing I've never actually seen in a car before.
The front and rear ends are the only exterior differences between fires and cavys. The fire interior is nicer, no doubt.
Anyone who thinks you're on crack for having the 2.4 doesn't know their ass from a hole in the ground.
Cavys were a bit cheaper than fires, so being an econo-box, they sold more, hence their popularity.
^^There were less Sunfires produced as well (based on production numbers)
just call it a 24L that wat it freakin is end of story there i solved it
