New guy here

As title says, new guy here. Was given link to this site by a member on ultimatesubaru.org site. Been digging thru old post here for awhile this AM, and thought I'd join and intro myself, and the Wife's , (Del), car.

'93 Pontiac Sunbird SE convertable, 3.1L Auto, loaded with everything but power seats, got around 135,000 miles on it. I bought it for Del about 18 months ago, from a local dealer, but I know the one and only previous owner of the car. He took meticulous care of this ride, but it is starting to show it's age some.

I do have some questions on various items, and will post them in proper forums, if,,, I can't find what I'm looking for using the search function. I have problems with that at times, but it's just me. Don't use right word(s), not holding my tongue right, or something along those lines, but I try...

As for me, I'm 52 years "old". Been wrenching on cars as a hobby since I was around 10 or so. No real formal training in auto repair, Dad and some neighbors were the guru's that helped me learn things back then. Don't know everything, but I manage to fix most problems as they rear their ugly little heads.

Hey,

Welcome from the Great White North in Canada. I thought I was one of the more "senior" people on this site at 40!! You got me by some. I grew up with a gear head brother who showed me some things about cars and I caught the bug. Never really could afford to mod much when I was younger; but, now I'm having a ball "wrenching" on this 2000 Cavy I bought 4 years ago. Enjoy your stay and hope to see you on these boards from time to time.

Thanks for the Welcomes...

This Sunbird is the 4th J-body we've owned. Others were '92 Sunbird, '91 Cavalier, '95 Grand Am. All we're the Wife's rides 'cept the Cavalier, that was a buy/fix/sell car, needed new head, but was great otherwise.

As for my rides, I own '82 Subaru BRAT, '86 BRAT, '88 Subaru XT6, '88 Subaru GL-10 Wagon, got less than $1200.00 invested in purchase of all 4 total. My DD's are the '86 BRAT and '88 XT6.

Truely love wrenching on cars, but hate it when it's the "I have to fix it cause it's the only thing I have to drive" thing. Every vehicle I've owned was someone elses headache. I buy them and fix them for me mostly, but do sell one now and then.

This computerized stuff gives me headaches, but I manage to find the answer(s) thru friends or now on-line. Gotta love the internet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But still, I'd rather wrench on '60's early '70's stuff any day over this newer stuff. Hard to find engine in some of these cars,
