Whats up!
Saturday, December 30, 2006 7:07 PM
Hi I'm new to J-body.org, well sorta I've been on here several times when I owned a '89 Cavalier Station Wagon, and a '98 Sunfire SE, but for the past 2 1/2 years I was a proud Grand Am GT owner and spent my time on N-body.net, and grandamgt.com. That all ended at around 6:45 a.m. on December 21st when I got into a car accident and totaled it!

I ended up getting it apraised at $8,000 when I owed $6,500 on it, so I came out ahead on the whole ordeal, and I found a nice Cavalier,, which will be my 3rd J-body. Got a pretty good deal, only $9000 for it, and I have the full bumper to bumper warenty and the extended warrenty. Also only has 16,000 miles on it. My payments are roughly around the same price as my GA, Its also loaded with everything except for the MP3 deck. Here's some pics:

Thanks! Yeah I've always had good luck with my J-bodies and since they don't have a whole lot of resale value, Cavalier/sunfire was the first thing I thought of when I started lookin for a new car. So anyone know of any good mod sites? I spent a lot of time on pfyc, and customgrandam.com for my mods for my GA

Welcome, sorry about the G/A but nice choice on the cavy! As far as mod sites.. this site is a great resource! It has a ton of information, and there are people here who can answer just about any question you could have.

Other sites that I use:

For an excellent Ecotec engine specific community/resource:
Ecotec Forum

For Cavalier specific parts:
ShowStopper Tuning
J-Body Source

For some Cavalier specific parts, and a bunch of universal parts:
Extreme Dimensions
A+ Performance

For custom headlights:
IZN TRBL, Inc..

cool stuff. thus far I'm really liking the Altezza tailights that replace the whole back panel, the black headlights with the clear sidemarkers, and the RKSport body kit that just extends the rocker panels lower. Figure I get that, add a hood, and window tint, and it'll be pretty mean all around, course I think its pretty mean right now with the LS Sport body kit on it.

Course for the next couple years It'll probably be stock. The first mod I'll be doing on it for sure is upgrading the whole sound system, second will be window tint. I had a JVC MP3 CD deck in my Grand Am that my insurance company wouldn't let me take and though the stock RDS radio in the Cavie is cool I'm going nuts without mp3 playback!

Sorry bout the Grand am, but black is beautiful. Nic epickup on the Cav. As for the Altezzas, if you like 'em, that's all that matters, but some here may flame you for it. The rest of your wish list looks top drawer though. Good Luck!

Gotta keep on livin', L-I-V-I-N

Yea, altezzas are cool if that's your taste but definitely look at a trunk swap. An 02 trunk with stock taillights or even Toyota tails would look very clean and still very nice. Whichever way you go, welcome to the org and good luck with the cav.

I had something really funny to put here but it was too long.

sorry to hear about the ga

i'm also sorry to hear you paid 9k for the cav...

you could have picked one up for a lot cheaper and saved yourself a lot of $$

get lowering springs/struts, change the trunk and thats it....don't waste anymore money than that!!! cept maybe for sway bars

.

I don't think 9k is bad considering I looked at a cavie exactly like mine at a chevy dealership 2 1/2 years ago and brand new they wanted $21,000 for one brand new, and it was in that hideous Orange Fusion color! Also I bought my Cavalier with 16,074 on the tach and its a 2004 model, so basically a new car (with the new car warrenty) for $9k doesn't seem like a bad deal at all to me.

oh yeah (since i can't seem to find an edit button) also keep in mind its a loaded Cavalier, power windows, PDL, Keyless Entry, LS Sport Package, Power Moonroof, Power Mirrors, chrome rims, etc. so 2004, 9k, fully loaded, 16,074 miles. doesn't seem like a bad deal at all.
