Help Please
Saturday, March 24, 2007 10:57 AM
Ok I am very new to the J Body world, but I know what I want to do, but its just a matter of knowing HOW to do it. I want to put a turbo in it, but I am completly clueless on how to put one in, and what all I would need. So I gues my question is what do I need to buy to make a complete turbo setupfor my 2200, and how do I put it in. Thanks in advance for the help

You should just leave this to a shop if you have no clue. No one can you good directions over the net, you would almost need someone standing next you showing you all the steps

dude there are a few good guys that might help him out if he does some research on his own ,half the posts you make is either knockin someone or comin off with smartass comments why do you think this site is here?Uhhh... it's to help people, what's the best way to learn about your own car? It's to work on it yourself ,how did you become a mechanic?you were trained by someone else so why not help the guy out instead of tellin' him to have a shop do it in which he will learn nothing

if he knows nothing then he shouldnt be trying to install a turbo setup. an intake or header i can see but come on a whole turbo setup? he is better off letting someone else do it and watching

I can understand that but how many shops will let you watch them do it?And I would hope he might have at least one friend with mechanical knowledge that would help him.I didn't know squat about doing my nitrous install but I researched and with a friend that had exp. doing that before he guided me thru it and it was done in a couple hours.

personally, i think if you have no idea on how to do it or even what parts you need, you shouldn't boost the car, unless you have enough money to pay someone to fix it when it breaks (chances are it will break and probably on a regular basis), Boost is NOT a bolt on. Start reading and when you think you know it all, start reading some more. Once you know how to do it yourself, and understand what all of the different components do, then think about it

Thank you for all the replies, I started reading, and I have a good idea of what I need, and a pretty good idea of how to put one in. But even with me thinking I know how, I am having some friends that have better turbo knowledge help me out.
