hey guys, a slight nooB here,
I know a bit about my car, I've had it for a year and have been saving up to get some sweet tuning done... but I don't really know about what is worth it and what's not...
So here's the deal, everytime I go out to the track... or Friday night main street... there's an ass load of SRT-4's and all I know is that I want to add enough HP to trap 100+ in the 1/4, and smoke every dodge that decides to throw money down...
Money isn't an object... and I just bought new tires to go along with my shiny 18"
I know this much..
Exhaust + Intake + Turbo = +++HP
Tires + Struts + Sway Bars + Lowering Springs = Safety
but is that all there is to it?? is there anything else I could do??
and if you could give me your Car Specs that would be great... thanx
You're 16 years old and you're wanting to spend whatever amount of money on your car just to beat a few SRT-4s? Save up for college. Also fill out your profile. It'd help if we knew what year and engine you had for those who know about performance. Other than that, welcome to the org.

with enough time and money, anything is possible. read the forums, learn before spending, and stay away from maximumboost.net.
JBO Stickers! Get yours today!
get rid of those "shiny new 18"" you jsu bought. final drive ratios FTL
My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again
Well, one header would help anyway unless you swap in a 3X00 V6.

IF money is not an issue then sell your car and get something worth fixing up.
Tougeman what is your deal i have seen you all over the newbies forum basically putting down what ever ideas or questions some one has.
this is what you said to me
Tougeman wrote:Question. WHY!? your car is automatic and whatever u do, wont even matter. From my experience with modifying a sport compact with an automatic transmission its totally pointless.
so wanting to put a new exhaust on my cav is totally pointless... even if i were to see no hp found from a new exhaust what if i just like the sound or the way it looks
basically Ang Graves do what you want to and do do some research. figure out how hp you want and what you want to do with the car. then when you figure that out come back here and ask some more specific questions. good luck!
dont pay attention to Tougeman. he is a tool
Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
in answer Ang, the basic list should put you on the right path. start with that stuff then you can work further toward more power.

you may want to trap around 110+. ss sc's trap at 100 and stock for stock still get killed. and then there is the problems of finding a stock skittle. just my .02
Hay, i'm also a n00b and just got my cavy, but i've been looking at whats out there for future reference.
If money isn't really getting in your way, I would get some basic Tein Coilovers instead of lowering springs...
They make a Borla Catback for the Cavy that I found, better then your universal exhaust,
the only CAI kit I could find for my 2000 Cavy was made by AEM, just fyi.
As far as turbo,
turbokits.com sells full turbo kits for cavaliers:
'02+ 2.2L Ecotec and '98-'02 2.2L OHV.
Tires, I don't know much but pick up some Yokohamas
I don't know much about swaybars and struts, have to do more research.
Hope this helped at least a little? I'm still new to this stuff and I'm turning 17 in 2 weeks, so I know kinda where your coming from I guess.

Might want to get a new brake kit too if your going at high speeds and need to be able to stop.
GOODRIDGE Braided Stainless Brake Line Kit
AXXIS ULTIMATE Kevlar/Ceramic Hi-Performance Brake Pads
POWER SLOT Performance Slotted Brake Rotor left/right
and of course Calipers, but i'm having trouble finding some at the moment.

What kind of car do you have Ang Graves?
Here is the list from 3rd gens...
2200 = Good luck, very few if any have trapped 100+ with this motor with all bolt ons.
2.3 Quad 4 / 2.4 Twin Cam = Can happen with Forced Induction, all bolt ons and N2O.
2.2 Eco = Cam happen with Forced Induction, all bolt ons and N2O
Also, look for some severe weight reductions.
Unfortualy, the 2.4 Twin Cam and the 2.2 Eco were not made to handle large amounts of boost. They have relatives that can and do but not themselves.
Can J-Bodys beat SRT4s. Yes. It happens all the time. However, $ for $. The SRT4 will win everytime.
Get at it, you got a long way to go.
GOOD LUCK!!!

You also get your asses kicked because your "high performance suspension" is actually a PIECE OF @!#$ and allows all kinds of wheel hop when you try to put any power down, not even just on launches. I wheel-hopped one on a test drive just shifting into 3rd at about 75% throttle. Fix that issue and the weak as @!#$ axles and you can get a lot of stock vs. stock kills. I know, we did it with a local guys SS/SC.
New suspension + upgraded axles + good tires = One pissed off SRT owner. No mods needed in some cases.
I used to race cars, now I race myself.
