I went throught many of these posts and nothing seems to help me. I was wondering what should i be looking for when I purchase my intake? Should I check out EBAY? Should I spend hella money for one. Should I look for one that goes all the way to the throttle body or??? One thing that is baffling me is the sensor that is connected to the middle of the piping on the stock intake. Where is that connected on the aftermarker CAI or Short Ram.
Also... My car is an automatic. I bought it for mainly the looks with dreams of making a really eye catching car. And there were no manuals available. But to the question, What can I do also to make this car have some good power.
All the help will be greatly appreciated.
I AM A NEWBIE. And I am really excited to get my car looking great with a lil bit of get up.
One tip, make sure to email the ebay seller and specifically ask if it connects directly to the throttle body. I've seen ones where the stock image they post looks like it does, then people get something that connects to the silencer box
More $$$ isn't better, although you do wan't it to go all the way to the throttlebody. Your basically buying pipe and a filter, so different brands are pretty much the same. I'd stay away from anything with sharp bends though (although 2.4 cars don't have much of a choice). You likely, won't notice any more power (only a couple of horses), but throttle response in usually increased wich is always nice.
^^ plus the added noise that it makes.
all intakes are the same... a piece of pipe with a filter attached to the end.
Check out my build thread!
if you have a 2200 (2.2L 1998-2002) id recconend the injen short ram..its not cheap, but i had one on my 99 sunfire and it fit great, goes all the way to the TB, build quality was top as well. no complaints at all.
