Hi,my names Ryan and I own a 97 Grand Am w/ 2.4 LD9 motor. Basic mods, nothing fancy,AEM intake, custom fabbed exhaust with SRT-4 rear exhaust section. Currently looking to do the Secret Cam swap by the end of the year, possibly a winter project. My purpose here is to get a feel for the J-Bodies. I have pretty much hit a dead end with the Grand Am,most stuff is custom to make things fit and with being a College student, bolt ons is all I want.
My goal is to have a built 2.4 J-Body(most likely a Cavalier) with a turbo setup. SC is nice but the fun isn't there as there is with a turbo, having the feeling of it kick in when it spools up.
I know 1 or 2 people here that have J-Bodies,one has a built and boosted 2.4,Dave,has a white Cavalier. Was looking at some pics of the J-Body Bash and told myself to ditch my Civic JDM build and just stay with the 2.4 motor. I really do believe its a great motor and has the potential and rather stick with something I already know well.
So theres me in a nutshell.
Well if you do not want to spend a lot of money on custom parts....I think a turbo build is not really "bolt ons is all I want." A supercharger is more of a bolt on. If you talking about Whitecavy...dave...yeah he is a good guy.
Just read the performance faqs and sticky's in the performance forum, and you will get a pretty good feel for everything.
Welcome to the org....we have asses and nice people just like any other place.

I feel where your coming from. if you read my registry i too had a turbo b16, i used to go to some local spots and i would get tired of looking at my car and everyone else's car with almost exact same mods and looking exactly alike. you can only do so much to a civic hatch to make it look unique, but chances are some one either has it or has had it.

Well the Cavalier and Sunfire do have turbo kits don't they? That was the one problem I was having with the Grand Am,there are differences between the two in clearences. It would all be a project of course so it would definately be put together over time so spending money wouldn't really be a problem. I know a few people who just took a private loan out to get their turbo project started and got the loan paid off and now have a pretty decent quick car.
I wouldn't mind having a SC but love the look of the FMIC and think the possibilty to go faster is there with the turbo.
