Are these engines all the same? I have knocking on both engines.. I figured the timing chains have gone bad and have to change the chain. Do I need to change everything like they sell for a kit. chain, chain guide, brackets, sprocket, gasket as well. Thank you.
I also forgot. I have a 2.2 1996 cavalier. Will I able to put the 1996 grand am 2.4 motor in this cavalier without changing the motor mounts? Is the Trans the same or different? I do know that some of the wiring is different. Thanks. I am new started yesterday. I am searching for answers.

Actually there are more differences:
No EGR (As stated)
Different Compression Ratio
Different Injectors
would this cause any problems? im getting ready to swap in a 2.4 from a 99 alero
the knock sensors are different as well
