This is my first post and I couldn't find an answer through searching. I daily drive a 1996 sunfire gt with the 2.4L. Ever since I have had it, when I would start it up and try to drive it, it will want to stall. If I let the clutch out, it seems like the more gas I give it, the quicker it wants to die. It has only stalled a couple times when doing this. Typically I let off on the gas and the car idles almost like normal, it just fluxuates a little bit. When it happens, you can hear the intake start to get loud like it is lean. It doesn't occur on every startup, but most of them it does. I have changed the plugs, ECTS, fuel filter, and O2 sensor. The car does not have any codes. After the car sputters a little bit, it runs fine until you shut the car off and start it back up. Could this be the IAC or the coil packs?

u didnt use an AC delco o2 sensor did you...get it at an autoparts store perhaps?? unplug the o2 sensor and drive it like that for a few days..itll run rich but tell me if its still stalls or not
it sure would be nice if some of the people you help on here got back with you on what happens after you give them a suggestion.............
I didn't get a chance to try it out yet. I am not sure what the brand of sensor it was, but it was from advance and it was the cheapest one they had. I'll try it out and see if I have any problems and get back to you Monday.
Is is possible do edit posts on here?
I just searched through the advance site and found that the sensor I got was a bosch. I will still try it and see how it acts.
if its bosch then its crap..throw it out and get an ac delco..99% probability its your problem
