Interior Cluster and Hvac Lighting

Hey guys I have one question for you, I think I know the answer to it already but I figure I would ask the more experienced individuals. I have a 99 Sunfire with the Digital OD Cluster, recently the lights went out of the cluster and the hvac. So it doesn't light up when the highbeams are on. The Digital OD still reads the milage and lights up but not the panel illumination. My father being crazy as he is used a 15 fuse instead of a 10 fuse to get the panels to light up. Well it worked for about 2 weeks then they stop lighting up, milage still lights up. So what do you think the problem is? I was guessing maybe a wire has come loose from the cluster, since I have removed the dash a few times to install White Face gauges and such. Anyway thanks for your help guys appreciate it.

If replacing the fuse makes them come on... you probably don't have a loose wire.... it might not be a bad idea to re-check you connections though...

I would also check out anything else that shares that fuse.

It could be something as stupid as a grounding power wire.. or a loose ground causing a power surge too like your saying... but id'e check and see if something else isn't overloading it also.
