hey im new here and new to the racing scene. i just bought a 05 sunfire 3 weeks ago and im ready to make some power. which would be better the gm performance supercharger? or a turbo kit from m.r.d.? or could i build the same power n/a? basically im looking to make power safely with out hurting my wallet. thanks
Well if you don't want to hurt your wallet then check the classifieds section.I am assuming you have the Eco and if you do then I would just go turbo, might be a little less expensive. The 2.4 S/C is alot cheaper if you have that motor.Either way your going to end up spending a decent amount of cash on boosting and you''ll spend more cash building a N/A motor and never achieve the power you will with boost.

but to boost the right way the first things i would do is build the motor to handle the boost upgrading internals etc. before i boosted.
its a 2.2 eco. how much boost can i run without going into the bottom end? and what companys shpuld i deal with if i do boost it? oh and i have my limit set around 6 grand for this build.

Well first go to the right forum,BOOST,then read all the stickies and FAQ's that should help you you a little more, secondly you DO NOT need to build the motor to boost it but to handle a significant amount without breaking something,I would do as said above and build the motor.

If you go with the Hahn Turbo Kit, then I would reccommend atleast forged rods, maybe pistons. Unless you are planning for low boost (nobody puts on a turbo and never turns up the boost)...I would reccommend the GMPP Supercharger kit $2571 from crateenginedepot.com, a full exhuast system, motor mounts and go from there......later adding a heat exchanger, smaller s/c pulley and some suspension work!!!
2005 LS Auto (Blue)
-M62 Kit with 3.1"
-ZZP S3 H/E setup
-Pacesetter armor coated header
-Magnaflow 22" resonator (p/n 10436)
-Vibrant CatBack
-TTR Upper and Lower motor mounts
low boost being under 8 psi? the supercharger woul;d be better for a daily driver right?
im doing 9 lbs turbo. READ READ READ! thats the best thing you can do. read til your head hurts then read some more. im sure there is more out there i still dont know but reading helps a lot. you cant just buy a turbo kit and bolt it on and expect it to run perfect. there is a lot of meticulus tuning and what not that needs to be done. and i would PM Bonnett. He just bought Team Vision Racing and gave me a hell of a deal on all my turbo stuff. about a grand for the turbo, bov, all the flanges and oil lines... talk to him. you wont regret it.
