okay im your average 16 year old kid with a run down 97 cavi 2.2 ive pretty much destroyed the looks of the car but what can i do with out spending a whole crap load of money to make my car go fast. i know there is something out there about a certain exhaust size and something to do with the cat. thats about it so any info given is much appreciated
save your money for something else. honestly you have a 2.2 auto the slowest of the slow. save your money for something else because if you plan to make that car fast, its not going to be cheap and quality parts are not cheap.
If you really don't care that much about it...get nitro, most bang for your buck. But yea, the cavi 2.2l auto is unbelievably slow (a friend of mine owns one, 5spd sunfires smoke it -not just beat it- stock).

Step 1: Find large dead tree.
Step 2: Park car under tree.
Step 3: Give dead tree a push towards car.
Nah, but seriously like StrippedCav98 said your car is one of the slowest of the slow. The 95-97 ohv engines weren't the best for modding, and when paired with the automatic tranny...well I've seen mopeds that move faster.
I say concentrate on the visual and forget about performance, you can only do so much with the 2.2 Auto. To really make it fast you would need to spend more money then it would cost to buy a new car.

start out with maintenence...make sure shes in tip top shape...clean and fix anything questionable
How much is a "Crap load" of money, and what do you consider fast?
Look up the fastest cars in the 1/4 in the Racing Forum for the OHV,look up their profile and see what they have done,PM them and ask them how much they spent to achieve that time.Forget the N2o,best bang for YOUR buck is an engine swap.

My suggestion other than nos would be swap in a quad 4 HO.

okay so get a new car...thats lovely considering the fact that i also own a 63 falcon...ahhh screw the cavi its a pos anyways i can always just chill bak and wait get ma self a new one when the falcons paid off....oh im likin the tree idea would insurance cover that?
Step one - Remove radiator cap...
Step two - Get new car...
Step three - Re-install radiator cap.
lol cant remember where i heard that... but i think its suitable
hey i kinda agree with these guys the 2.2 is the slowest of the slow but at the same time i can speak of experience with my sunfire i have a 2001 2200 or a 2.2L
my buddy has a intregra with a B18 ( with vtec ) its a 5 speed....hes got a little of motor work ie. short arm intake , and a full exhaust with header and all that
i have the 2.2 sunfire...with a short arm intake. and a cat back system i had custom made for the car i still have the stock manifold. and i'm an auto
when we did our run he was never in front of me until we got up to about 180Km/h than he started to pull away from me. so with wut iv seen with my car its a fast car....i have no problem sticking with 2.4L

Dude unless your mistaken and have an Ecotec in your car and don't realize that he has a LN2 in his... your on crack...
There is no way that an LN2 will hang with a LD9 in a streight line..... or a b18 integra for that matter....
btw.... an intake and exaust isn't considerd "motor work"..... and that "about" 180K that you going when someone fly's by you........ thats called your speed limiter...... 180k is almost exactly 110mph and the speed limiter on your car is set to 108mph......
To the original poster....
There is a lot of stuff out thier that you can do to your car... and you could probably have a bit of fun with it...... but what everyone is telling you about making it fast (except for the last guy) is correct...... if you can afford to make that car fast.... you can afford to buy a better car...... you won't be able to do anything "for cheap" that will make it faster.
