oldtimer newbie to later technology

I bought one of my 2 Pontiac 2000 new back in 84 a turbo se hatch optioned out when I was in high school got tired of the slowness & went back to muscle cars in 1988 yes it was a fast car but compared to a big block low geared nova no.. well I still have it & it was left stock & has 23,000 original miles. I am debating either unretiring it & putting it back on road or maybe selling it. no idea what it would be worth. but should have all paper work & receipts since new including invoices

I also have a 1984 pontiac 2000 normally aspirated sedan my mother bought new with 113,000 miles.

just curious what all can be done to these cars power wise? & still get good fuel economy?

I would probably be happy with the turbos power but with the low mileage 23,000 miles it may be better to let someone else have at it while I find something higher mileaged to rack up some serious miles. I average 60,000 miles between all hot rods I keep on road a year

I love horsepower. hate driving anything stock. but can be a bummer on long trips especially with high costs of fuel.

I have played with pontiac 6000s, plymouth neons, aircoled VWs, old Datsuns several 510s & various hot rod cars, as well as bikes Harleys, BMWs, Triumphs, as well as jappanese, & been thinking of either a warmed over 6000 or a 2000 built for fun & a occasional 1,700 mile ride, my step daughter lives 850 miles away & I sometimes take off abrubtly & go see her & have to have total reliability. plus good gas mileage can be a great plus. I would hate to use my pickup with low geared rear with small block & mild camshaft.

lately been taking wife Mitsubushi on them but have used Toyotas, & VWs

anyway later everyone,
Randy

Best bang for the buck on the 94 and older j's is to swap in the 3400 v6. Some are now doing the 3500's too. If you haven't looked at v6z24.com you should check in there.
