Pulling Motor ... Help !
Monday, December 31, 2007 9:51 AM
I am sure this info is on here someplace but I am new to the forum and new to workin on front wheel drive cars. I have a 96 Cavalier that I am in the process of removing the motor from to go into my 97. Both are 2.2 the 96 is an Auto and the 97 in a 5 speed.
I have the motor dangling on the 96. I am hoping I can leave the transaxle and tranny in the car and lift the motor out ?

if you disconnect the torque converter from the flexplate, you souldnt have any issues.

Thats whats its lookin like to me also I have just enough gap I can get to the bolts. I am gonna support the trans from below until I get the motor out . The hanes book says you gotta pull the whole mess. Thanks I will finish here up as soon as the temp gets above 0 again.
