good coilover springs?/lambo shocks? opinions?
Tuesday, January 01, 2008 11:06 AM
hey all, my body guy said that I should get these coilover springs and I'm not sure if they are good or not, i know that you guys really shun "ebay coilovers" but I'm not sure if you are talking about springs as well... honestly i have no idea how a coilover even works! ANY help is very appreciated fellas, he also said that I need to get these shocks for my lambo doors because one of the shocks that came with the car (supposedly brand new) was bent and my guy broke it when he was putting it in. lambo shocks? As I said before I am brand new to this whole thing and any help is REALLY appreciated!

Thanks,
Shane Belanger

make your first resolution of 2008 to find someone else to work on your car, preferably someone that knows what they are doing and back up their own work.

You get what you pay for. Unless your willing to fork out for Tein's or a set of GC's and Koni's save up your money. Good suspension is key to a great car.

My car rides low and is comfortable for the street and a terror on the track. I have Tein SS's, addco front and rear 1" swaybars, and poly control arm bushings.

I wouldn't drive with anything else.

the guy that I bought the car from said that I have the "C2 Suspension from chevy..... the sway bar helps the car hold the road. The coil over seem to also help" <<That is a quote from a portion of a write-up that he did for me on the car. Now, my body guy said that he needs to raise it and he can't with what is in it... Is there another way to raise the car? Oh and this is his cardomain http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2167341 for the guy that wants some backup, granted I don't know if this is good work or not I think it is... but what do I know?

Lambo door shocks, done the right way!

^^Heres a group purchase for the lambo door shocks, and as far as the coil overs go i would highly recommend staying away from those from personal experience. My friend put ebay coilovers on his accord while he was waiting for his tein suspension to come in and he ended up having to sell the tein suspension for money because one of those springs let go on the highway and caused all sorts of damage, my advice is do it right the first time! also if you would like some pics of the damage on the accord i can see if i can dig them up.

yeah, it looks like i have a lot more reading and such to do. apparently that is what is on my car currently... I was looking at the air-ride setups and it seems like they might be worth the extra money for the ease of use. I was wondering if anyone has this (air ride) on their cars and could maybe tell me the pros or cons about them compared to coilovers. Right now i'm headin over to the suspension forum to continue reading. Thanks for all the help so far guys, I really appreciate it!

depends what your going for. if you want show and not worried about speed and such then bags are good to give the wow factor, however they dont corner as well as coilovers at high speeds do. also you have to maintain the kit. just dont think you slap it on and its good to go like coilovers are. theres alot of different pros and cons

can the cavs (02) lay frame with a little modification or a lot? I have a body kit on it, so it might not necessarily have to lay frame, but if It did lay on my kit would it break? I mean if I go air ride than I want to be able to lay the car on the ground, just wondering if it is going to ruin anything and if i have to do a lot of modification or not?

Ok, so i have learned a lot in this short amount of time, thanks a lot guys I really appreciate it. Now, I found www.suicidedoors.com and I was fooling around "making my own kit" http://suicidedoors.com/custom.php <here, and it just seems so damn inexpensive... whats the catch, will those not be direct bolt-on to my car? (02 Cav) I know that easystreet makes a kit specifically for the cavs, but it just seems like you can get so much more from suicide doors for the same price? Granted I have no idea what I am looking at. Just like before any help is greatly appreciated, maybe I am way off-base with this whole thing, i'm not sure. Oh, and one more question, Joey, why do you have 2 compressors? Is it just so that you can lift your car up quicker? I'm trying to save as much money as possible, while still getting a quality product of course**

compressors dont lift your car. compressors fill the tank with air. obviously 2 compressors fill the tank twice as fast instead of 1.

as for your link that building your on kit, those are only bags. you'll need to custom fab something for them to go on then.

ok, i didn't want to start a new thread so i'm kind of screwing my topic up here, but oh well. First, does anyone recognize these coilovers? I know that it is a long shot, but I couldn't think of any other way, they have no markings on them (to my knowledge) or atleast I didn't know where to look. I guess they are 2-stage? Thats what my guy said, but here is a pic of them and also, just give me some opinions on the car so far if you would please! All of these were taken by my camera phone (motoRokr) so not the best quality but they will have to do! Thanks guys. I would really appreciate your input on the paint and if I should do the whole car that color, or break it up with a 2-tone or what not, this is the first time that I have ever done this so honestly I don't have the slightest idea what anything will look like.

Thanks,
Shane

old bumper: (for sale cheap cheap if anyone wants it, she's urethane? ya, really really flexible and won't ever break i guess?
