I have a 02 z24 and thinking about putting a magnaflow muffler on it not full syystem just muffler. I really dont care too much about performance since I have a 01 ws6 to satisfy my needs to go fast. I really would like to make it sound a little better I love magnaflows sound. What magnaflow model would you reccomend? and what size is the stock exhaust so I would find the right diameter inlet muffler? Thanks guys

Call RK Sport and find out the model of the Magnaflow mufflers that come with their dual system. You'd need to get them in the correct inlet diameter or use an adapter but they sound great. Not that ricey sound either. Nice and mellow. Roar on full throttle with a nice hum on cruise and almost stock at idle. Plus they come with the polished tip.
^^^^I hope you know its not going to sound the same. Pipe diameter and a resonator have alot to deal with the sound.
OP - Go with a Cat-back system and a resonator. Just slapping on a muffler is just going to make it sound loud and obnoxious.

WHAT. your first statement is saying it will sound the same then your closing statement said it will make is sound loud and obnoxious. A lot of people are putting the 3" coffe can rice mufflers on their stock exhaust which does sound retarded ricy and loud. Im not going to do that, I am going to put a 2"in/out magnaflow muffler on it which I have heard from some people sound pretty mellow and good on the 2.4s

again... we KNOW magnaflow isnt a rice muflfer. we AGREE that a fart cannon on stock pipe is the gayest sounding exhaust ever. you come here asking questions, and then tell us we're wrong? to change the sound a decent amount, you NEED larger diameter pipe. it has nothing to do with the performance aspect. a ful header back on these cars would be amazing to net you10 hp at the crank.

an exhaust sound will vary from car to car even if its the exact same exhaust.

putting the muffler on will sound raspy and god awefull, I wouldn't do it but it's up to you

I've always thought that a 4-cylinder sounds nice with just a chambered flow master muffler on it. It gives you a deeper tone and isn't raspy or annoying.
