Hey everybody, i got a 1998 sunfire 5 speed from my mom from my uncle but im only 15 so i have to wait to drive it but i have driven with parents. It was a good car until my idiot step dad wrecked it into a ditch cause he cannot drive a manual. Its god some minor cosmetic defects, the coolant fan isn't running right but i think i got it figured out. the front right ball joint is almost at its last days b/c of the wreck (all of the problems are from the wreck). I put on a custom exhaust from 3A racing but i think my older brother redid the whole exhaust. When i get the ball joint fixed im redoing the whole suspension and getting a racing setup for it. If you have any ideas on what i should do to make it a great car feel free to say so.
if your going for a racing setup on your suspension (think thats what your saying) coilovers are gonna be ur best bet. so that way youll have full adjustabilty on them. gravana and tein are really the only two ive heard of that are a complete set. or you can get ground controls, but ud have to get struts to go with them.
and as far as performance and power, it thats something your gonna look into, your best bet is forced induction. eco's and ln2's have premade kits you can buy (def go with hahn), but the ld9 guys gotta make a custom set up. all have alot of potential but the eco has alot of manufacture support behind it. look through the site and youll find plenty of information
oh ya i was wanting to put more performance first then i was gonna do the body and like make it look real nice but i still got a lot of time and money is tight right now.
yeah, and take it from another young kid -- money will most likely stay tight until you get a full time job. lucky for you to have such a reliable car (depite your few issues you have froma wreck) to learn all about to work on. and a plus side about broken @!#$ is now is a great time to UPGRADE!!! lol, no really, when i first got my car, 25% of the stuff i learned on it was from replacing broken parts with new ones.

Get all the parts you need in a pile, and drive the car into it.
They will find their way into the correct places.
^^^^^^^^^ 100% agree. phisicaly working on your car and sorting out problems teaches you more than anything. that way when you do go to tear into her you know alot more about it
i'd double check on the exhaust system... a proper system has
Header or Turbo Manifold => Downpipe => High Flow Catalytic Converter => Resonator (some times) => Muffler
using pipe in between 2.25" and 3" (3" being only for Forced Inducted Applications).
Putting an aftermarket muffler on a stock exhaust turns it in to a "fart can"... its loud, obnoxious, and doesn't do much of anything for horsepower.
well rite now thats just what ive got and its like my bros loud and obnoxious, but when i finish the exhaust then it will be for power and performance
just seeing if something worked
hpe fully last time and ithink i got it this time
or not let me try something else
use the preview button next time .. or " preview sig"
ya i figured that out when i was done. but thanks anyway
