The J-body is the unsung hero of economy cars IMO.
I've got around $20K into mine including the new purchase price of $10,000.
That includes a fully built engine, full suspension, 2 sets of wheels and tires (one for autox and one for daily) and a full sound system. Still ended up paying less for another equivalent and its faster.

im confused, what was in your civic ? you had 7k in it and it wasnt faster than a stock sunfire w170k on it. i mean my old civic had less than 3k in it including the cost of the car i was pulling low 13s beating stock mustangs and camaros. was it all in body/ apearance? either way im glad your happy with your buy
give me a d15 block with a b16 head and seven grand and we would have our selves a motor
