I was reading craigslist.org and found this:
http://cnj.craigslist.org/cto/872505752.html Its just a normal ad for a cavalier but the poster says the car has a
4-Speed Automatic Transmission . Overhead Valves (OHV), Cylinders: 4, Front Wheel Drive, Horsepower: 115@5000, Size: 2.2L, Torque: 135@3600, Fuel: Gas, Valves: 8. He even describes the engine so he seems to know what he is taking about. Its a 98 Cavalier RS.
Is it possible to have the base engine hooked up to a 4 speed automatic Transmission ?

not when people are at work between 1:30 and 7pm
i think in 98 those engines only had a 3 speed tranny. the 4 speed auto came with the 2.4.
the 4 speed auto with the OHV came in 2000 i think

yea but dont even try and tell me you cant hook up a 4t40 to that motor if you wanted to, the 2200 in a 200 is the same fn motor in a 98 so it is possible it has a 4 speed, yes. is it original porbably not, but i hate my 3 speed, sucks balls, my firend has the 4t40 on his 2001 2200 and huge mfn difference, like night time during a blizzard and daytime at the beach, hate fn gay 3 speed, just dont have funds to swap it out.
The 1999 sales literature I have shows either the 3-speed or 4-speed automatics were optional on the base engine, with the 4-speed standard on the LS sedan models regardless of engine. It was likely the same in 1998. - Mark
yea we had a 97 cav rally sport come into the shop for a motor rebuild (2.2L) and it had a 4 speed overdrive tranny
Did I mention I drive a 2000 Lumina now?-----wigm-tuners.org member
