Hi all, my name is Corey. I just recently purchased a 97 Pontiac Sunfire SE, sporting the 2.4dohc. Car is a piece and will require lots of tlc. This is the second Sunfire I have owned, and I figured this time around I would use the resources I have available to prevent the fate of my first Sunflower happening to the "new" one.
I am fairly car stupid as I can honestly say I have never changed my own oil...There is a funny story behind that actually...Anyways.. So yeah I am car stupid. I went ahead and viewed the entire Newbie section here Stickys so hopefully I have everything covered.
I have a single picture of the Sunfire attached to my profile. I just recently bought this car as of the 14th of November, so less than a day ago. The car is a Fixer Upper for the most part. Needs a new rod bearing which a buddy of mine is assisting in fixing, aside from that the rest of the engine and tranny are in near perfect condition. There are a few cosmetic damages to the car such as a ding here or a scratch there. I do have my work cut out for me though.
Ok..So to the funny story I previously mentioned... First time I ever decided to change the oil in my first Sunfire I really had no idea what I was doing. First car I had owned, never had any previous experience with cars much at all so yeah...Anyways...I didnt really put two and two together when the phrase, "Changing" oil ran across me. So instead of removing the old oil and replacing it with new, I just dumped like 8 quarts of oil in into the pan...Went to take the car for a spin and my entire neighborhood was engulfed in giant black clouds of smoke. Ended up blowing the motor...=/
I will be back and forth on here and chances are I will ask for personal input since once again, I am car stupid, and a few stickys can only answer so many questions =D
welcome
