Is the block from a ecotec l61 the same as the block from a 2200 from 00 to 02?From what i remember the head is the only difference between the 2.I have a eco head and its easier to find the old 2200 over here.Any info would help cant find anything that makes sence.

The difference is like the 2.4 to the 2200, not even close to the same engine.

The 2200 is a pushrod "cam-in-block" engine. The Eco is a DOHC (cam-in-head) that uses roller-lifters and a completely different block and head design. There's almost nothing to compare the two except they have the same displacement.
