Hey everyone,
I am actually posting for my gf.. she has a 2000 sunfire w/ the 2.2 (non-gt..) She bought it pretty much new (less than 10k on it) quite a few years ago, and now finally it is starting to give her some issues. It currently has about 89k on it..
My newest issue with it is the serp. belt. It is obviously in need of replacement, it is frayed and glazed over. I have a serp belt tool (I autocross a nissan so I'm always under the hood of that thing..) The tool fits easily onto the tensioner, but only when it is going through a motor mount.. Am I missing something or were the engineers severely intoxicated when they designed that? Do I have to remove the motor mount? Any word of caution about that?
I am sure you all will see a few questions from me over the next few months, but I hope to learn enough to contribute back.
Thanks
i think your better off taking the wheel off and doing it from the bottom...
also, you may need one of those double jointed serp tools. it has an additional bar that you attach to the main bar that makes a different angle to get to where you need to go.

My dad and I got it done with a 3/8 socket wrench.. Had to do a little manuvering but we got it.
What a pain! Are all these things like this? Sooo hard to work on..
Thanks for the help guys!
