A noob to the site, but not really to the J body.

Hello. I'm new to the site and was wondering what to do for my friend. He and I have just replaced the head gasket on his gf's 1990 2.0 L pontiac. That was " the easy part". Now we're having trouble starting it after properly timing it. Please help with your suggestions. Thank you.

what is it doing when you are trying to start it?

that would be a very helpful thing to know(as in is it turning over, will it start then die, etc)

without any info, I would guess the spark plug wires are on the wrong spot(if they have wires)

a loose wire somewhere,
is it getting fuel?

I don't really know, just guesses,

but good luck

Sorry. I forgot the important stuff. The wires ares in the right spot. I double checked that. When I crank it it just cranks. It doesn't try to turn over at all. It is getting fuel and spark as the wires are only about 6 months old and the plugs are only about 4 days old. The coil is as old as the wires. ( changed at the same time)
