I know with K&N cone filters like found on AEM intakes etc. they have special cleaning kits that you can buy to clean the filters. Are those good for all makes?
I bought an aftermarket cone filter a wile ago and was wondering how long should I wait to clean it and how? I dont remember who makes it if that makes a difference.

it depends on the type of filter. most filters are paper, there is no cleaning them, you just toss them. my brother bought a "k&n like" filter that was NOT paper, cleaned it with the k&n system, and it destroyed the filter. he was driving down the road and the motor just died. we towed it home and starting taking stuff apart, found a piece of the filter stuck in the throttle body. we took the filter off and it was just shredded. k&n uses a soap and their oil...my fram boost intake used just soap and no oil...

with all that written out, i should have just said that it very much depends on your particular brand of filter. look online or call the manufacturer to find out cleaning specifications.

GO PATS!!!
