Hi, I joined the forum last night and thought I'd introduce myself. I owned a second gen cavalier wagon years ago. And I'm going to look at a 1998 cavalier tonight. I'm in need of a project car since I moved and left one and sold one before I moved. So I've been trying to figure out what I want next and this cavalier might fit the bill. I had nothing but good experience with my first one the wagon. It never let me down. I thought I would join and get to know a few people. By the way I'm from Chesapeake,Va and I moved to London,Ontario,Canada. I moved here because my fiancee is from here. I need my own car up here. Well enough about me just thought I'd say hi and what not.
Hello
my previous cavy was a 98 too. reminder to check it over closely so you don't get any hidden surprises!
My 98 cavalier never let me down. Awesome car.

Thanks for the welcomes. What kinda hidden surprises should I look out for? I've bought many a used car and such. But is their anything cavalier I should look out for?
Not sure if it's a common problem or a way to check. but the idle pulley on the 2200 motor likes to just snap crooked and shred belts. Happened twice to me. once in the 98. twice on my 99. 2200 motor only far as i know

Thanks I'll keep an eye out for that.
haha my bad I meant 3 times.. lol. They liked to go like every 45k miles for me.. mostly how I drive I think. When they go bad it will sound like a supercharger or a power steering whine

I had a mustang once that had a bad altenator pulley that had that kind of whine it was so annoying..lol.
