i'm not looking to build a race car here, just something with a little more pep. looking for 200-250 HP out of my 2000 Z24 cavi auto. my motor cracked a piston clean in half 3 months ago. i finally found another motor last month, so i'm driving it again, thankfully. i've been reading a lot on this forum and quad4forum, and so far this is what i understand. if any of this is wrong correct me. i'd like to rebuild my old motor, block wasn't damaged, head was. i have a clean port and polished 779 casting head, and secret cams, that i bought separately before i lost the motor. from what i've read i can't use the 2 together, so i have a choice of using stock cams with the port and polished head, or find a pre 96 head with 35mm lifters in the towers? or can i just got pre96 towers, or can i have my 779 towers bored for 35mm lifters and other clearance spots required (if required) for the secret cams. i obviously need pistons and might as well do pistons and rods. i'm having trouble finding pistons that aren't 9:1 CR. i was thinking 11:1 all motor setup. i've read people's builds and people are running 11:1, but i can't find them anywhere. i'm not looking to spend a ton of money, and i'm in no hurry to build this, it will be slow. i have a V8 S10 and an off-roading project that i want to take care of first. i also have a pacesetter header, not yet installed, i was gonna wait to do the motor for that, but i might just put it in there now. i have a flowmaster 40 laying around, would it sound decent to do a 2.5in pipe, hiflow cat, and the flowmaster wit the header? i want to to be loud but not obnoxious, and not ricey. i know thats a ton of questions, but if you have any advice i'd love to hear it.
as far as the exhaust if you're going to stay n/a you really don't need 2.5, 2.25 will b sufficient, and ur setup will probly sound just fine.
as far as your motor build goes i don't know enough about the 2.4's to be giving you advice, you'd probly get much better responses in the performance forum if you do ur research first.
on a side note welcome to the .org!
