Hey I'm new..i guess i should introduce myself
I'm Lauren
I own a silver 2005 Pontiac Sunfire...
I have a problem though.... The lights on my car are SOOO dim..its very hard to see at night. I was wondering if there is some way i can make them brighter. I've heard about putting h9 highbeam bulbs on my foglights..but i dont want to do that because you have to cut some parts off of the plastic on the bulb and that is too much work. Is there a way i can make my actual lowbeam headlights brighter?
Please help!
Are your headlight lenses fogged at all? Also check your voltage. You might have a bad battery which will give you low voltage and dim lights.
^as he said check voltage, if ur lenses are oxygenated get a restoration kit to clean em up, then pick urself up some silverstar ultra's. decently priced bulbs and they're amazing.....

In my personal experience, I have found regular Silver Star bulbs to be much brighter than the Silver Star Ultras. They are also cheaper. Just my $.02 though.

Welcome! It's great to see another female Sunfire owner join!
Now, please don't be offended buy this next question. I have seen people do it and that is the only reason I am asking. You are indeed turning the headlights on at night correct? As I said before, I have seen people driving at night with only the DRLs (Daytime Running Lights) on so I just want to make sure this is not the case here. Again, please don't be offended, I don't mean it in a bad way, I am simply trying to rule out reasons why the lights would be dim.
First, as has been said already, I would check your voltage.
I doubt the headlights are oxidized being that the car is only about 4 years old, but if they are, don't waste your money on a restoration kit. You'll be better off to get some "new" headlights on eBay or from a local junkyard.
As far as bulbs go, I too highly recommend Sylvania Silver Star bulbs. As I said above, I personally have found the regular Silver Stars to be significantly brighter than the Silver Star Ultras, but I'm sure others here would disagree. You need an
H11 for the low beams and
880 for the fog lights. Unfortunately, they don't make Silver Stars that work for the high beams (H9), but the low beams and fog lights get used the most anyway so I wouldn't worry too much about the high beams.
Hopefully you get this issue figured out. It is definitely important to be able to see as well as possible at night. Good luck!
I never used a resto kit on mine. Just wet sanded with 1500 and buffed them out.
