So im doing a swap from a 2200 to a 3100, i told my dad, he said i would probablly need to change my struts/springs and etc for this to work, but i dont think i would need to........my Cavi is a 98, i honestly dont know where the engine is comming from, so what kind of engine will work or does it really matter, and later i plan to do a auto-manual conversion, i know ill need a new tranny, i can take a 2200 tranny from another cavi and it should work right?

3100... a waste of time. Do the 3400. You dont need to change your suspension.

alot of old grand prix's and other old gm cars had the 3800 in them, if i was doing a v-6 swap that's the only way i'd go. but that's just me, there's nothing wrong with a 3400. that being said, get ready for alot of fabrication, and i hope ur pockets ai'nt empty cuz.

Tons wrong with the 3100/3400 series IMO. Well not really, just crappy intake manifold gaskets for starters. I just never could justify swapping in one of those 60 degree V6's when I could build up my 2.4L to do more.

then wat options do i have with a 2.4, and since im pretty broke i can retain the 2200 with the 2.4 right?? right now im exploring options, making do with what i got, i was gunna do this with my 97 blazer but i couldnt find anything on blazers, was gunna drop a 350 auto v8 in the blazer but i wanted to mod a cavi

If you go with the 2.4 then you need the trans as well. Yours will not bolt up.

Just get the 2200ohv.

I wouldn't bother swapping to a 3100, same work goes into swapping the 3400 and its more powerful. 3500 is the same thing, but they are harder to find for a good price. 3400s are not that hard to find, just search around on the internet. Rearend collisions are your friend . I got a 2000 grand am with under 90 000km for $400. After I part it out, I will probably make the $400 back (interior is mint, tranny recently rebuilt, good rims/tires, etc).
