i've had my cavi for about two months now, so i've been a short time lurker-- first time poster.

the engine in my 'new' cavalier decided to dump oil and lose power yesterday.

haven't tore it apart yet, need some info before i get into it

and i have a 1996 sunfire with the older 2.2 as a parts car

as long as my 2200 intake is fine, will the low end off the sunfire/ln2 work if i need to use it?

i'm unemployed and i have to do this all myself, so any help is good help! thanks in advance.

bonus: this happened on the way to my moms house.. on the way back home i hit a deer with my girlfriends car.

if there are any other places i should ask or there is any additional info needed i will be glad to provide.

Just go to a yard and get a new one. 2200s are dime-a-dozen engines. I think one can be had for a couple hundred bucks.

A couple hundred dollars is a big deal when unemployment is $150 a week

anyone else with more info? i'm going to have to start cross-posting to other sub-forums here, i have no idea where to get this information.

I dont think the bottom ends are the same since they 2200 is a redesign of the 2.2. The coolant passages are different among I few otehr things. Im not 100%. Search in performance. Ive read about the differences somewhere before.

97 was the last year for the 2.2 so 98 was 2200
