newbie to the org. looking for help?
Thursday, March 04, 2010 8:29 AM
I've been a jtuner for over three years, but I started a family so I put my hobby aside, but I wanted to start my cavi project again. I really never knew much about motors details, I've always just added basic Boltons. I've been looking around and I want to start learning. Can anyone tell me how much hp/two I'll gain from a port and Polish, forged headers and a performance crankshaft? Just want to know if the money is worthy of the difference?

...port and polish, at best 5.
there are no "forged headers", so nothing there.
performance crankshaft? what engine? nobody makes one for the OHV, as it's good out to about 350 or so in stock form.
your profile says 2.2 SOHC, of which there never was on this platform. if you have the ohv, its one of those situations where your best bet is to sit back, evaluate your goals, and weigh the options of FI vs. a swap.

Avoid JBP with all your power.

jbp has been known to not send out products while keeping money and other shady crap.

try turbotechracing.com
overkillengineeringmotorsports.com
allecotec.com (if you have an eco)
carcustoms.net

these are all reliable sources for parts for j-body's.

and you can always keep an eye out in the classified's on this website along with the regional forums (which are almost always just selling grounds anymore)
