ok so i'm the new owner of a "2nd" gen sunbird LE. you guys say 2nd but as far as sunbirds go its 3rd. but enuff splitting hairs. its a 88-9345...whatever you get the idea. ok so i got the car for $100 to drive up the street and to the store n stuff. the steering column needs to be replaced its been welded and strapped back together. so whats involved in replacing it? i was thinking i could walk to the store for a while and replace the motor while i'm at it. i've currently got a 3.1 v6 auto. i'm a previous beretta owner, i'm familiar with my engine swap options but i recently found theres a 2.0 turbo, i know about the 3.1 turbo. i'm just wondering what wound be my easiest option this would be my first engine swap. availability aside of course what engine is gunna be easiest and worth my while to do, i like to go fast. also how hard it auto/manual swap? can i use aftermarket boost gauge for the stock turbos?

best advice: read as many threads as you can in the 2nd gen forum.
