hey guys i was just wondering if a 2.4 head would fit on a 2.2 ? thanks in advance
nope. Nothing lines up. I mean head bolt patterns and coolant/oil passages. Everything is different.
why not just swap a 2.4 in if that's what you want? couple hundred bucks and your done.
1999 - Cavalier - 5speed - Exhaust - 17" rims - carbon fiber hood - the beater
The 2.2 has 1 cam in the block, 2.4 has 2 cams in the head. If you bolt it together you will have a tri-cam motor. Do it and be the first!
Seriously though, not possible. Its not a Honda the parts don't just interchange like that.

Funny I always wanted to do something like this but with and ecotec head instead lol. Not an easy task a lot of machine work + what Freelancer1988 said... but still I think it would be awesome if it could be done with any DOHC head on the LN2 block for that matter.
Well GM did something simliar with the LQ1 aka 3.4 Twin Dual Cam, which is just a 3.1 block with a sprocket sticking out infront of where the cam is(which is just a blank sitting in the cam bores).
I do realize that GM had the capability to design the heads and all that. I just wanted to point out that it is possible to convert a pushrod style block to DOHC
can the 2.2 eco head bolt to the ld9 block
no. again, completely different engines.

and if it could, you wouldn't want to
