1996 chevy cavalier engine swap?

I have a 1996 Chevy cavalier with a 2.2L engine and I was wondering is there any better motors. I heard the 2.2 or the 2.4 Ecotec engines are really good. im looking for something me and my dad can do in a week or sooner.
