My first time ever racing...
1/8th mile track.. not bad, but I can definitely do better.
The track is far stickier than I had expected, so I need to practice launching.

X Class gives people who are eliminated in the first round of their class, a second chance to race.
All races were bracket style after the time trials.

I eliminated an older style Escort Hatch. I showed him what's up with the J body power
He should have spent more $ on performance mods instead of appearance mods.

(Win) Eliminated some girl driving a Dakota, supposedly had a Paxton supercharger on it and she said it was AWD.

fist times u will get better u should have a better top end tho ....u will get better don't worry it all takes time ... my first time i got my ass handed to me by a lil nissan next time around i was beating SVT foucs with a exhast and intake with my g/f's 2001 sunfire with the 2200 motor it just take time

I'm well aware of the poor times, and like I said I have NEVER raced on a track before. I only know how to launch my car on the street, launching at the track is entirely different, which is why I need to practice.
Expect high 9's this year.

what rpm are you leaving at?you need to work on your RT's for bracket racing

nova, my first launch, I was feathered the clutch... like normal driving, which is was someone suggested I do. Well the launch sucked.
Afterwards I was launching higher and higher, I think my highest was around 2K ?Next time out, I'm going to focus more on my launches, thanks!

It just takes time. You'll get the hang of it. When I first raced at an 1/8 track I spun like mad the first time. 2.6 60'
I got it down to a 2.4 60' and the times have gone down. 2.3 are very easy for me now, and I've had one 2.2 60' during my second day at the track.

Wow VERY VERY impressive for a 2200.
I should be out there this Tuesday, hopefully I can shave some time off my RT, and with a better launch, shave some time off my ET as well.

I'm lookin to get on the track for my first time soon too. Did you go to Lancaster, if so how was it there? Im sure if u practice ur launches and go again your RT times will be much better and your times will be lower. Ive been practicing mine at like 3am on some back roads

A 10.8 1/8 time is about a high 16 maybe even a 17.0 1/4 time so...about average (maybe a tad fast) for a stock 5-speed 2200.

I loved it to be honest, I also didn't have a bad problem rolling as people said I might.
I would pre stage, stage, hit to brake to stop the cra, and just give it a little gas, then go.
I do have to launch harder next time.
But at 2K and lower, which I think is where I was launching, the traction was A LOT better than on the street.
I'll be going again this Tuesday, most likely entering the first timer class one more time.
$15, you'll get in 6-8 runs. I had 8 runs my first night.

1. THE CAR
2. THE DRIVER
3. THE COURSE/TRACK
Some folks, like myself, prefer to take it a little slower to LEARN my cars limit, opposed to hitting the limit and having a catasrophic failure.
You could quite possibly be one reason people give up on posting, or the automotive hobby in general.
And being the PRO, you think you are, you've forgotten the 2 most important things about racing.
1. The person tried their best at that current time
2. The person had fun.
This isn't The fast and the furious.
We don't all have NAWSSSSSS

I was just thinking that there might be something wrong with the car. Those time are uncommonly slow. Even if you do pull a 2.2 or so 60' you might only be looking at a low 16 sec. When was the last time you did a tune up?

New plugs last week, that's the extent of the tune up at 52K
I was going really easy on the car.. I had no idea what to expect for traction, so I was launching as if I were on the street.
Like I said, with the exception of me still being new to the track, I'm expecting to pull off a 10.5 or better this tuesday.
Afterwards, I'll be working on a few mods here and there to get me closer to my goal of high 9's for this season.

Definantly work on your launches.....your RT time doesn't change your ET time. Go to the track on a test and tune day, so you don't have the pressure you had on your first time at the track. The more your go to track, you will definantly notice the difference in your ET and your RTs. But if you want to have a better RT time, once you see the third yellow light go on, launch because by the time your foot hits the gas, it will be green. Good luck man.
