At gateway int. I ran the open class and made like 12 or so runs and the first started out at 16.95 and everytime i ran i got a lower time, 15.6 was the last one of the day..
Track Temp..130 ish?
R/T.644
60' 2.244
1/8 10.111
MPH 68.45
1/4 15.62
mph 88.64
I ran for the first time at the bash and again at gateway (NOPI)... did you seem to get slower times in the right lane? I was running 16.7 in the right and 16.4 in the left consistantly...
and I am ADDICTED to it... lol
Where are all the people who say Manual Eco runs high 15's low 16's now?
Good time.
joe, my stock 2.4 ran 15.5 so does that mean all 2.4's are better than all Ecos?
why does my pretty much stock 2.4 run 16s?

was that you bracket Racing?..i was suprised how slow you were running..i ran about 10 consistent runs of 16.1/16.4 in the right lane...i think the left was faster tho..

nice 60ft times for the first time at the track
what rpm were you launching at?
see ya!
novaracer wrote:nice 60ft times for the first time at the track what rpm were you launching at?
wow, i think like 4 or 5,000 on that pass
Was just testin out a few things, my R/T's suck ass because i didnt know how to race..i waited for green and luanched..
also i was revving it all the way before the limiter so i think i may have been a little faster if i shifted at 5,700 instead of 6,400
I ran my 5 spd 2003 Ecotec Sunfire for the first time tonight at the track... all I have is suspension work, wheels and tires, lower engine mount, K&N Air fliter, Cat back exhaust... 16.00sec's. Not too bad for a rookie I think.
sunfires are heavier tho..so you did very decent too
by manual stock eco runs 16.0-16.2 consistant. i ran 15.86 once cant do it again.
2004 Cavalier, 2.2 ecotec, 5spd getrag
do you ever notice that the ones who talk the loudest have the least to talk about?
idk..my car has to be faster, i consistently beat cars that run low 15's

No, you won't be. Go ahead and try shifting at 5,700, then you can give me $5 when your trap speed drops about 4 mph and your ET gets in the area of .4 slower.

I was gonna say its because you suck at driving, but then i saw its an auto
In which case its not that bad.

Not to be an ass hole but do you know anything about ecotec?...from dyno charts it shows power decreases after 5600 rpms..
yup but shifting at those rpms makes you drop out of your power band, while shifting at 6400 makes you drop right around peak power which is what you want.
So shifting at red line is in fact the best, ask anyone who has pulled low 15's in their eco.
15.891 @ 88 mph stock, still getting @!#$ty launches...

yep he's exactly right.............if you shift that early it means you will be below peak power in the next gear.Because of power mutiplication the car makes more power at 6,000rpm's in second gear than 3,000rpm's in third gear.It will take a few tenth's of a second to re-enter the power band thus increasing your e.t.
p.s. I went 15.28 w/homemade intake and 17" wheels in my 03 Fire.
I ain't callin u a gold digga,but you ain't messin wit a broke cracka
k one problem though
anyone have an issue with the tranny not going in gear at that rpm? i did a 6000. do you double clutch?
2004 Cavalier, 2.2 ecotec, 5spd getrag
do you ever notice that the ones who talk the loudest have the least to talk about?
double clutching waste's time
just make sure the clutch is all the way in......................I shifted 6,200 with my foot to the floor and never had a problem.

i agree it does waste time but even when i had it to the floor it wouldnt go into gear. it didnt grind at all just felt like i missed the gear. that always sounds good running down the track. guess i will take you advice and try shifting at 6400 soon. my local dragstrip is being repaved right now. thanks for the help guys

^^^ get a b&m if you dont already have one, I used to have a problem getting into second with my stocker but not any more
k i will soon hopefully. i understand what you mean about the launches. thanks for the advice
