Trap speed and 1/4 mile time.....

Here's a newb question, but it's something I've thought about and would like some info on.

Can you use trap speed to try to determine what you SHOULD be running in the 1/4 mile?

Let me explain...

I'm trapping at around 88-90 mph in the 1/4 mile but have only been able to manage a 15.6 thus far. I see alot of timeslips where people are running 15.1-15.3 and trapping lower speeds than I am. Is it safe to say I should be running a really low 15?

sorry for the newb post....

You can see my sig and the traps I am pulling 108 mpg right now and after the flywheel and the cluthc that I put in should be right around 109-110 or so, and with that MPH I should be running like mid 12. Like 12.6 or so.
So far I have been able to pull only a measly 13.4.

You figure out what your 60 foot on the time slip is and then each .1 that you get better of the line is about .1-.15 at the end of the 1/4.
Like mine is like 2.3 @13.47 if I can get down to like 1.90 should run about 12.80.

Just go to go and practice,

depends on the 60 ft. 15.6 is lower than average.
The track itself can determine the times. Like if you run at a crappy track, you times could go either way because the markers could not be calibrated right.

yea it is low for your mods, 18's a body kit, wai and a short shifter got me a 15.6 with room to improve.

that's what I mean. you only have a WAI and short shifter for performance and your 18s are probably hurting your times if anything. I have a WAI and short shifter along with motor mounts and a full exhaust which includes a header. I feel like I definitely should be running a low 15.

I'll just have to get out there and keep tryin

15.1's-15.0's usually take around 91-92 mph traps.

What kind of 60' times do you have?

Well, I have trapped at 90 mph.

My 60' times are terrible. My best was a 2.298 or something like that. I think a lot of my problem is the track. If I get a chance before the end of the season, I'm going to visit another track.

2.298 isn't that bad. The best you're probably gonna do is low 2.2's /very high 2.1's...which would *maybe* be about .2-.3 off your 1/4 time.
