well tongith i'm going to go race at the track . me and a few of my friends r goin . i have a 2001 pontiac sunfire 2200 4 speed auto . my mods r pacesetter header and full catback exhaust 2 1/2 inch to a performance magnoflow mufler ... no cat . upper motor mount insert . weapon r intake , b&m shift plus . what yall think my time will be ? i will post the real time tommorow morning but i just wanted a few opinions and see . i also stripped out the back half of my car . no spare no jack no carpet all the way up to the front seats is stripped completly. any guesses??
probably somewhere in the neighborhood of mid 16's. When I ran with a header and intake and just a muffler on a stock pipe, I hit a best of 16.5 @ 82. I've got a manual trans though, the auto will affect your times a little bit.
even with the b&m shift plus on seting 2?? does it still make that big a difference? how?
I don't know too much about autos, but the biggest thing will be your launch. You can rev the engine to where you want and just keep your foot on the brake, but the gearing is different so that will play a little factor. As far as I know, the shift kit only strengthens and quickens the shifts in the auto, doesn't really do anything for the take off. Take a look at your 60 foots after the first couple runs, if you're at a 2.4 or above, then the launch is what will be killing you, not the shifts.
o ok . well we will see tonight then . i will post the timestommorow
Yeah i would say a mid 16 and your doing pretty good.
A few years ago before i had the N2O on the car with only an upper and lower mount, WAI, completely stock exhasut stock suspension and whels and tires 15" and a really cold night with great air i got a best of 16.8 thats not gutting the interior.
And as the mods got more and more HP out of the car my problem was traction and mine is a 5 speed, so earlier this year i finally got new springs and struts and RK Sport lower control arms and it hooks up much better now, but i havent been to the track to find out yet, i have a new cluitch andas soon as its broke in the 75 shot direct port will be on the car and ready to rock. Im hoping for a super low 14, but anything better than a mid 14 and ill be happy.
