at a still put the ebrake on and put it in 1st and floor it hold the ebrake with your hand and let it go when you rpms get high

unless you're using slicks or drag radials, this isn't really necessary, you just need to slam on it hard enough to get a quick spin to clean off any dirt/water you might have picked up. Powerbraking will do the trick, like colby said.

if the track officials let ya go around the water then do a small burnout. but it still wont make a difference you need some more ponies to be having traction problems.

Pull the ebrake up as hard as possible.
Brake torque engine. (press hard on the brakes with full throttle)
Let go of brakes while at full throttle.
Continue to hold the burn out through all 4 gears.
Once your car is engulfed in smoke, release the ebrake and move forward with the tires still spinning. This makes sure those goodyear rsa's stay warm while getting to the line.
Line your car up.
Pull a 2.4 60'.
and that's it.

If he isnt running slicks he doesnt need to do all that. Heating them up wont help much on street tires. Just spin a little to get the water off or if you can go around the waterbox dont do a burnout.

with all your mods? you dont have that many mods really man. i noticed burning out in a automatic at the track is alot easier once the charger was put on, now that im pushing around 250whp its never been so easy, ebrake and WOT are your friend at the burnout pit.

Put it in neutral, redline it, then slam it into drive.
I would never have bought an auto. in the first place.

this guy is a moron.

if you do that this will make your tranny go out, a friend of mine learned the hard way and did that, tranny was grinding and stuff, not good.

First of all, the 4t40e is an electronically controlled trans. So it wouldn't go in right away if you did a nuetral drop.
Second, they have a nuetral limiter of 4500 rpm (I think)

Best thing to do if you dont have SLICKS is to just avoid the water... Once you drive through that the water picks up in your tread... Unless you do a pretty decent burnout there will still be water caught in the treads, and when you pull up the the line some water will dribble down to the ground and cause more traction problems. On top of all that heating up street tires just lessens traction anyway. Ive seen many ls-1's make 19 second passes cause they think theyre all that with there huge burnouts, just to get beaten by a civic cus they cant even keep the car going straight down the track lol.

You have to do all that to run 2.4 60 foot times. All this time I didn't know.

I dont think you'd get any 60' for that... just a boot in your ass on the way out the track gates lol

Jokey Ben. I think you can do no burn out and run 2.1 & 2.2s.

I don't. But that's a pretty standard 60' for an automatic j.

BTW can't someone do a sticky on burnouts. "How to" and "Who needs to" so I can quit expecting to come in here a see a pic of a nice burn out at the track.

Warm up the tires with a power-brake.....then brush a little bleach on the tires........................................................................the smoke will be so thick you cannot see.

Woooo bubbies.
Re: burnout?

I NEVER heat up street tires EVER. I have learned this the hard way many times over. unless you got dr's or nitto's on there don't bother. if you got bfg g-force, the slightly less radicle nitto tire, or goodyear f1's pull to the side of the water and to a little spin to get a little bit of heat in the tires and shake the dirt off.

if you have any other street tire on there go around the box and at most do a dry hop to knock the dirt off. here is why.....

street tires are designed to resist heat, not biuld it up, so you are forcing the tire to operate in a method it was not designed for.

if you do manage to heat up your heat resistant street tires the compund does not stick like a racing tire, it will become slippery. becouse it is not designed to ever even see that kind of abuse(ie. a massive burnout) the already hard compund will only become harder at the surface

street tires are designed to carry the water in the tread to keep you from hydroplaning at high speeds. becouse of this your treads will have a habit of carrying water all the way up to the line. and then the water will run off the tread and make a very small puddle under you tire. do you really think launching on a small puddle of water will help your 60'. and if the guy running behind you has andy sort of like 11,10,or 9sec car with alot of power all that water you just dragged up now becomes a SAFETY HAZARD

this I have learned through years of going to the track with different cars on different tires and seeing what happens

one time I was that guy that did a big burnout it the box on street tires. and I got the 17.9@102mph timeslip from my old 5.0 stang to show for it
