I went to the nearest 1/8 mile track tonight with everything taken out of my trunk, and my backseat removed. I ran slower these 5 times than I ran on a different day with a heavier car.
I kept spinning the tires on the line, and shifting into second.
I guess I'm just cursed to always get ~2.5 60ft times, and ~10.5 1/8 mile times.
Here's a video.
I'm racing my friend in the Mustang GT. He ran a 9.52 and I ran a 10.63.

Work on your reaction time, it was pretty slow.

Reaction time means nothing ,unless you are bracket racing.
Did you lower the tire pressure? To what PSI?
Did you do a burnout to clean the tires? Feather the clutch while launching at 3500 or so RPMs?
Jersey Kid is right. RT dont mean jack unless its bracket racing

You need to get the 60' time down. You say you are spinning comming off the line. Are you running reduced tire pressures? If not, start with about 27 psi and see if you get better traction. You will most likely be able to go lower, but this is just a starting point. Go around the water box, unlike drag radials and slicks, street tires don't like water on them when launching hard. Don't do a smokey burnout on street tire, they only get slick, when heated up. All a street tire needs is just a quick dry hop to scrub the surface of the rubber to clean them.
Finally, get more practice. I know I need more practice. You'll learn the best technique that works for you and your car.
I was running around 32 psi in each tire. It's what I ran before. I'm thinking maybe the reduced weight hurt my traction. I went around the water box, so no problem there. Next time I go, I'm going to lower my tire pressure and see what that does.
I tried launching around 2200, 2000, ~1800, and 1500. I bogged it at 1500, and spun anywhere above that. I do need a lot more practice though.
Thanks for the comments.
Learn to feather the clutch/gas. Practice will be your friend.
From the video I did not see any burnout. Like already said no need for a smokey burnout on street tires, but you do need to clean them off. You pick up trash in the staging lanes. Also 32psi is too much. Start around 27 (like said already). Yes practice helps. Some have said feathering the clutch can help. Well maybe. I dump the clutch. Feathering the clutch actually wears the clutch more. I go hard or go home.

At least I went home from the FL J meet with 2nd gear still in tact
Nex level pres. wrote:@!#$ I almost red line and then pop while slamming the gas. I seem to do just fine!
If you want to do a burnout.
I dont seem to have any trouble accidentally hopping my wheels with half throttle, why go full?
Next time, I'll definately try starting at 27 psi.
Does anybody else have problems shifting into second?
i've never seen anyone getting good 60's out of straight dumping the clutch... its a fine balance that you have to find between how fast you let up the clutch and how fast you put down the go-pedal.... it just takes seat time. Took me 8 months or so of going twice a week to really get consistent 2.0's on my street tires.

27 psi is too high... go lowerrrrrrrrr
try 23 then go down from there, altho I wouldn't go much further than 20 unless you feel like scarificing top end for a good 60'... there's a fine balance between traction and the ability to maintain tire shape
as far as launching, everyone is going to tell you something different, I find a lot of my best launches believe it or not are by shocking the drivetrain with the clutch and controlling spin with the throttle
I launch around 4000 RPM
I pop clutch out to around 80% and give gas around 50% - 70%
balance between slight tire spin and traction.. too much spin = burnout contest, too much traction = bog
as soon as you feel the car is moving fast enough forward to counteract the spin effect, let the clutch out more, and add more throttle
when you get all the way on the gas and all the way off the clutch 1st should be running out very very soon
shift into second hard and fast
shift right before fuel cut in every gear
don't push the clutch in all the way, just enough to let the synchros disengage and rip that thing into the next gear.
Thanks for the info guys. It gave me some things to think about. Every time I ran, I would get excited and all of my concentration was gone.
The video comment a few posts up: I posted that video because it was the only one without me screaming profanity. I didn't want to post those here on the JBO.
