some bolt-on's, a whole lot of weight reduction, some sticky tires, and one hell of a launch.

I've never really understood the idea of modifying a 4 cylinder. For them to run respectable times, you have to do a whole lot of work to them, boost them, and run nitrous. It makes no sense to me. I say instead of modifying your engine, do some custom work and drop in a healthy small block v-8. Even a stock 318 or 302 could easily throw you into the low 14's or the 13's in a light car like that.

Your a tool. For the cost of putting a V8 into a J-Body I could have a 10 second 4 cylinder EASILY. That's fact too.

santa buy you internet for christmas?? or a cavalier...

i think you need to read around a bit before you open your mouth, V8s are old news and theres alot of 4cyld out there that would walk all over v8s with nothing more than a 2k turbo kit and some nice tires

there are plenty of j-bodys arond this site running some damn respectable times and with half the cylinders of your mgihty V8

The V8 guys will wake up a little after I finish my next build I'm gonna stick it to them right where it'll hurt the most.

The average 4 cylinder today is faster than the average V8 in the 80's. There are plenty of stock 4 cylinder cars that run 13's these days.

another thread jacking moron brought to you by the .org haha

anyways 14's with a 5spd ecotec arent hard at all learn to drive it well and get your launches down add a few bolt ons and your there

exactly. get a cai, header, 2.25" exhaust with a high flow cat, short shifter, and learn to drive good then 14s. But if you want 14s in warm weather as well, a 50 shot of nitrous could give you mid-high 14s depending on driving skills.

I want to share something with you - the three sentences that will get you through life. Number one, 'cover for me', Number two, 'oh, good idea, boss', Number three, 'it was like that when I got here.'

if you have a base model cav, get an intake and catback and you'll be into high 14s on a nice cool day

do full exhaust and some minor tuning you'll hit mid 14s easy

its not as hard as everyone thinks..

unless you're hauling around a sunroof and power windows...

my stock cavy ran a 15.3 at 90mph...with better tires and a good launch i think i could do a 14...

trap speed of 90mph, you're def in the 14.9 range ^^^

if you trap 90mph or higher, you have a 14 second car, just gotta get the slip to prove it.. but that high a speed is more than enough to hit a 14

Re: what has to be done??

the slip reads:

R/T---.788
60'---2.317
330---6.513
1/8---9.943
MPH---72.01
1000---12.864
1/4---15.359
MPH---90.04

this was at 7:54PM on aug/30/2006 and im really not sure of the altitude or anything like that...it was at pacific raceways in Wa
