Ok so I am an AutoX addict. I took the year off and now i am building my car specifically for AutoX. My question is are the replacement motor mounts offered on carcustoms.net legal for AutoX? After reading 14.10 - H I am assuming not. I was just curious due to the flex stock motor mounts have and the flex on the exhaust piping (If i understand it correctly). What mods do most of you all run in the STS category? Any help would be appreciated.
PS I currently have the 1.4 Eibach drop, AGXs, front and rear addco sway bars, front and rear strut tower braces, short shifter, an intake, and a header that I would like to add an exhaust to.

anything and eveything that is safe is legal for auto X.
as for my car, I have 2 cavs, my gay tan one is my beater that I take autocrossing. Heres the mod list on the beater
* RKSport Short ram intake
* Pacesetter 4-1 Ceramic (Jet Hot) coated header
* Magnaflow highflow 2.25" cat
* Dynomax 31" long 2.25" resonator
* Dynamax Super Turbo mufler (no fart can here)
* Jeg's 2.25" manderal bent catback exhaust (comes with just piping and a "reonated tip" as a mufler, so I bought it for the manderal bent piping already prefit and cut it up to weld in my real mufler, resonator, and cat)
* RKSport upper motor mount
* RKSport lower motor mount
* AEM clucth fluid resoviour bracket
* Prothane front trans mount
* Prothane rear trans mount
* Vibrant front strut tower brace
* Vibrant rear strut tower brace
* FE3 Front sway bar
* Energy Suspension front sway bar end links
* Addco 1" rear sway bar kit
* Koni Yellow struts
* Eibach Sportline lowering springs
* Prothane control arm bushings
* light weight 17" Gunmetal Rota Boost wheels
* Nitto Neo Gen tires
* black chrome McGard Splinedrive tuner style wheel lugs and locks
* modified front axle for wheel clearance (cut down for center cap cleanance)
* Short throw Shifter
* modified shift boot to work with shifter (short throw + stock shift boot = ripped sift boot, shaved the inner plastic for clearence)
* Removed rear "Cavalier" badging
* Removed rear bow tie emblem
* Kenwood KDC-MP232 headunit
* Kenwood KCA-iP500 I-pod adapter
* Infinity Reference 4x6 plates for the front doors
* Alpine Type S 6x9's for the rear deck
* 40 Gig video I-pod
* Autoloc CK2000 power locks with remotes
The motor mounts are legal for STS and SP classes. I don't believe you can run them in stock classes.
of course you cant run them in stock classes, stock is stock!
ok, well as far as i know (was told) that for a stock class all parts have to be OEM or OEM replacements
Nope. Stock allows several modifications. I think Darkstars copied the rulebook into his FAQ if you want to read more.
I think all the mounts are legal except the turbo tech racing upper mount. Depends on if they used more metal than stock to make that mount. header is legal, but you have to run stock or stock-replacement cat (no hi-flow units).
Heck, my engine swap is going to put me in street-mod (unless I can twist around the backdate-update rule to my favor)...
But for STS:
WAI;
Pacesetter header; upgraded exhaust piping - 2.25 piping (from 1 7/8"), resonator, high-flow muffler (might pose a problem w/ noise), high flow cat (no flex pipe)
upper/lower engine mount swap (polyurethane - and that caused some excess valve noise);
added 22mm rear sway bar;
added optional front sway bar (came w/ stock 18mm -- I think, changed to factory optional 22mm -- RPO code FE2),
CD/S front rotors; regular, semi-metallic brake pads;
no engine internal changes;
changed from factory size 14" wheels (195/70r14) to aftermarket, factory option sized 16x7 rims w/ 225/50r16 (factory option is 205/55r16 -- standard on Cav Z24's and Sunfire GT's),
later corrected to inform that stock was 16x6.5
no external body panel cosmetics,
Eibach Pro-Kit drop springs;
KYB AGX struts;
added factory-standard front strut tower brace from a Sunfire convertable;
Centerforce clutch;
high-flow cats put you into STX actually, but I wouldn't worry if you are only running local events

The more metal than stock is to prevent solid motor mounts, the RKSport unit is safe, and if you want to be extra carefull, the turbotech unit is deffinatley within the limits.
Darkstars Illegal for STS:
-high flow catalytic converter
-poly trans mounts
-Modified axle(although no ones gonna touch that one because it doesn't provide any competitive advantage)
Should be running in STX, or DSP with r-comps, but you can usually get away with a lot at local autox events, no one wants to file a complaint unless theres contingency money on the line because you have to pay to file one.
There are also a lot of fine lines you can dangle over. Very soon I'll be cutting the in and out pipes off my cat and hooking it up to wider piping, its borderline, but as far as I'm concerned I'm still maintaing the stock catalytic converter although many will disagree with me. its only a means till I move to DSP.
In stock class you can replace or remove the front swaybar, use R-competition tires on rims that are stock size both height and width. Struts and Shocks(dampers) can be replaced, must use stock springs and can't alter the perch height.
In response to the original message all of your mods right now are legal, including upper and lower motor mounts.

Yeah, i didn't really know if the ttr mount was within the rules or not. I alos didn't realize that trans mounts were illegal in sts. Thats another illegal thing i got...

the bigger TB is also not legal, and neither is the rear disk coversion that I've waiting on parts to finish, but chances are noone will know the difference regardless. When I go I'm usually the only cav, no one knows the cav platform, no one pays attention to the car, no one bitches about the car. Its not STS legal but noone knows/cares. And either way I'm not in this for the competition. If someone bitches and I get kicked to a different class then so be it, cause win or lose I'm in it for the fun. I could get moved to ahigher class where I have no chance and still have the same amount of fun.
So far I've only had one person tell me thats its not right and I shouldcome clean blah blah blah but my thinking is its my daily driver, its car to beat on, why do things like spend the $ to do my entire exhaust and leave the stock cat just so I comply to very strict rules that I need to fallow like 6-7 days out of the year. I'll mod it for the daily driving, I'll auto cross it for the fun
by the way I know your not giving me @!#$, I don't mean to sound defensive if I do because I'm not at all defensive. Just explaining my view.

No worries, theres always fine lines and I wouldn't worry about your car either. Even tho you have mods that are "illegal" Nothing you have is going to be the difference between 1st and 2nd in my book. If you beat me, then we'd have something to talk about
In the end its all about having fun.

That's quite right. No one cares until you start to get fast...and start beating them.
Even more so when it's in a J-body
