I run a cavalier on a dirt track and I pit for my bussy who races Street stock (fullsize RWD) on dirt. What class you looking at and what are your questions?
-1995 Cavalier for dirt racing-
-1995 Sunfire for parts-
-1998 Dodge Durango for getting to the track-
-1997 Dodge Avenger for playing-
i pit for my buddy and we race Pure Stock
78 montecarlo with a 350. everything basically has to be stock. they changed the rules up a bit this year. i dont know what they entail nore do i care. i just change the tires and put the car away when were done. occasionally i will do the "pitmans" race wich is superfun. if you like going fast i wod look in to it.
I raced a 1994 sunbird in the warrior class on a 1/4 mile high bank asphalt track in vermont. I had 1 win and finished in 8th in points. I loved the car and my little bro ran it last year and finished 12th in points as a rookie. I had moved up a division.

In my experiance racing and doing well on asphault can get $$$$$$$. but thats not always true.
Dirt track racing FTW.
like NASCAR its all about marketing, getting a car and racing is one thing, getting sponsorship is another. If you really want to get into it, go to your favorite racers website and try and contac them or there manager and ask them what you would need to do to get into racing. There not going to offer you a seat but they'll more than likely give you some reccomendations.
Yes it IS that simple.

I race a 1996 sunfire 2.4L on dirt. best thing i ever did was choose a sunfire. its a 1/2 mile track and with a stock engine i walk all over the Jap cars like hondas and acuras. if you have any questions feel free to contact me
I run a 1999 Cavy on Asphalt in Ona Wv at Ona Speedway the track is .375 Mi oval slightly banked I'll help you out as much as i can

Dirt tracker here.
Dirt's for racing, asphalt's for getting there!
I run on 3/8 mile dirt. I have a 97 cavalier z-24 5 speed. I run 3rd gear and have had a great year so far. Ran 22 races counting heats and features and have won 19. Got 2nd in the other 3.
Race a 95 Beretta on a 1/3 mile 12 degree banked asphalt track.
Running a 17.5 second lap right now, after only five races.
