Problem with transmission - Autocrossing
Tuesday, May 22, 2007 5:02 PM
Just something I noticed with my car that seems to be getting worse......

Suspension wise I have the Koni Yellow sport suspension along with nitto neo gen tires...... When I'm doing very hard cornering on the throttle, my transmission seems to bog out or something. Its kinda hard to explain.......

Ill be going hard through a turn then all of a sudden the car seems to slow a bit, even on the throttle. It almost feels like the speed limiter kicks in. Just wondering if anyone could help give me some input on the problem.... the transmission is a 3T40

If the revs don't rise and it feels like a limiter, I wouldn't suspect the trans at all. Sounds more like fuel starvation to me. I've had it happen to me with just over a half tank indicated before. That was with race tires on a course with a few sustained right handers tho. Otherwise its happend with anything below a third indicated. Try adding gas to it and see if that cures the problem.

Sounds like it's time for a fuel cell with internal foam.

its funny we went go karting last weekend and the go karts did the exact same thing, it was fuel starvation, I agree with the others that its time to look into that.

Dont go with foam, it only lasts for a couple years, and can be a mess. Go with an internal bladder if you do anything, they will last a lifetime, and are much more safe since in a case of an accident, they actually conform to the crumpled tank.

Check your fuel filter, the fuel pressure regulator and fuel pump to make sure they are good fist. Any of those would be much cheaper to R&R than installing a fuel cell. If those check out good, then do the fuel cell.

If it was the tranny, you would probably be slipping, not bogging.
