The times are here after opening day on 3.06.05. I was spinning very bad and on the one run I didn't hook til 3rd gear. I can't launch this car but, this was my first time racing in this. My MPH is great(I think) so I know the car can run a mid-low 15 1/4. I will try again next next. Overall, I am happy, 15's the first time out and an awsome mph for the times I ran.
Run 1
Car # 8457
Class S/T

1/8 10.394
MPH 69.30
1000' 13.426
1/4 15.981
MPH 87.21
This is the run I spun very very bad.
Run 2
Car # 8457
Class S/T

330' 7.217

you were at Budd's Creek yesterday?? I didn't see you................you didn't happen to see a red sunfire with a primered red front did you?? That would be me.
Your mph is enough to run low 15's.You just need to work on getting those 60ft times down. For every 10th you loose in the first 60 feet you tend to loose 2 10th's at the end of the track.EXAMPLE:
R/T .402
60' 2.673
330' 7.217
1/8 10.830
MPH 69.04
1000' 13.872
1/4 16.424
MPH 88.31
Now say you had a 2.2 60ft......not hard to do.That would equal about a 15.6 in the quarter. It would drop your 1/4 by about 8/10's.
I ain't callin u a gold digga,but you ain't messin wit a broke cracka
I know the 60' sucked, I am not used to this car, my camaro cut 1.9's. I probaly saw you, were you racing? I saw a bunch of horrible looking jbody's so, I wouldn't talk to them. I was the fast jbody their that I saw.

I went 16.2's but I have a bad clutch. My trap speeds were up around 86-88 like yours. The clutch just wouldn't hold 1st and 2nd gear all that good.
I ain't callin u a gold digga,but you ain't messin wit a broke cracka
The MPH is not enough for low 15's. Mid 15's at best...thats all.
Low 15's is low 90's mph. I ran 15.1 at 91.36....also a 15.2 at 91.2 mph....just to give you a clue.
I don't doubt your word............I have found you to be very acknowledgable
but on the other hand I have gone 15.20's at 87 mph in my 03 ecotec Sunfire.Granted I had pretty good 60ft times.I think it's highly possible.
Again not trying to start a arguement.
I ain't callin u a gold digga,but you ain't messin wit a broke cracka
its all about the launch. I ran a 14.7@ 91 MPH.

^^^^True launches probably have the biggest overall effect on E/T's.

Yeah, meltdown is running 15.2 @86 in his eco I think so I know I can pull a low 15.

u need better 60 footers, like 2 flat, i pull 2.3's on 205/40/17's and hit 2.3's but i only have about 120 tq. i would prolly invest in some new tires (Kumho ecsta MX)

how long have you been racing your cavalier?
just keep practicing with your car... try airing down your front tires to get better traction
my best 60' in my 2200 OHV is a 2.2 and my best e/t is a 15.769 @ 85.5mph
you have to get a better feel for FWD... the technique is a lot different
well what did u buy the @!#$ty ecsta 711's or 712's? go to tirerack and read the reviews, peep are puttin them on their new vettes and they grip better than the stock goodyear eagles. u cant compare a 300+ treadwear bargain tire for a 220 high performance tire

I did air them down and it wheel hopped and spun bad as shown in the 2nd run. That was my first time racing this car.
I had the 712's and I don't care what other peoples reviews are, I will never buy another cheap ass kumho tire.

It may not be the tire. Cavaliers are known for having bad wheel hop. Try getting some control arm bushings it will help a little.

This time again, your 60 ' is very bad....
Our car should be able to put down 2,0-2,1 60'
First time i was at the strip i've done a 15,876 with a crappy 2,276 60' Try to launch lower( around 2300) , you wont get as much wheel hop.
zouiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
-What's that noise?
-nutting, it's just my neighbour racing can (read civic).
i agree 88mph is only good for a mid 15 sec run.
when i was at the strip last year i hit 15.5 three runs out of four and that was at 88 i think
those were with 2.29-2.3ish 60'times
they were on the tires that probably came with the car.. then they had 70k on it
Trap speeds go down as traction increases.
O noes!
yeah i ran today for the first time this year. Here is my best slip. It was great i got 21 runs in and we left earily. haha
