CAI for a 2000 Grand Prix
Friday, November 07, 2008 4:21 PM
I'm in the process of installing a CAI on a 2000, 3800 series, Grand Prix, and as I'm taking out the air box it looks like the PCM is located inside the air box. My question, is it alright to have the PCM in the engine bay without being in the air box? I think it may have been in there to either keep it cool or keep it dry. So if I have it just in the bay do you think, will it be alright, or should I mount it in some sort of box with vents? or will it be alright if it gets a little wet, I know the 2.2L OHV has the PCM mounted close to one of the front struts. I dunno help me out here!

Thanks for the Help, Chris

? i've been in the GP community for over 4 years now and have never heard of that site. clubgp.com and 3800pro.com are the top 2 forums.

my PCM has been in my engine bay for 3 years and i've never had a problem. it's never gotten really dirty. never gotten wet (that i've found, i've checked after driving through some really bad rain and never had a problem) only problem is securing it. if you want to get a tray for it, go to ZZperformance.com. they have a PCM tray that works well. what CAI are you using?

Andy

it's not how fast you go, it's how you get there that counts.
ZZP XP cam, 1.6 rockers, 105# springs, speedbuilt FWI, 3.3" modular pulley, TOG headers,
3" exhaust, flomatched injectors

Well the car is actually my dads and has around 440k on it. He got me to buy him some new headlights cuz the stockers went to @!#$. So I got him a set and something a little extra, lol. I got it off e-bay but came with a K&N cone. Works well and he was quite impressed, so all is good thanks.
