Since the pristine, showroom condition, restored musclecar thing has been done to death. I was thinking that something really neat to do would be to restore cars in "7-10 year old" custom condition. Like, for example, you'd buy a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro RS with a 327 and powerglide and build it up like an 18 year old kid would have customized it in 1979: Jacked up rear end, Cragar S/S wheels with oversize rear tires, metal flake paint, yellow lakewood traction bars, undercarriage sprayed day-glo orange, interior all redone in velour, shortie cherry bomb thrush mufflers, chain steering wheel, hood pins. That sort of thing.
I've never heard of anyone doing that. Plus it'd be kind of fun to hunt down all the vintage speed parts needed because nobody wants them and they're fairly cheap to get. A hell of a lot cheaper than a numbers matching musclecar restoration in any case. Besides, the sort of "restoration" I propose only needs the kind of car that your average kid could have bought in the seventies and they sure weren't snapping up top of the line cars, so it just neccesitates some base V8 or 6 banger car.
I don't have a dime to do it, but I think it'd be insanely cool. I think people would get a kick out of seeing a car in "as driven" condition at car shows.
Watcha all think?
you had me at cragars and cherrybombs lol.

thats the way a lot of people stll restore... not everyone is all about the numbers matching stock. its about hey i want this motor and this trans in that car, hey i want those seats and that hurts t handle shifter with the line lock button on it.
