As stated in another post I'm looking for a toy car. Something to learn some bodywork/paint on. I found a 2000 Mirage that needs some engine/body work for $200. The plan was to get a cheap car, learn on it, then try to resell it or keep it to make it something a little more fun. I was looking in the direction of engine swaps or turbo, but for this car I can't seem to find anything.
To me, 200$ really isn't any money at all for a car. Even if I got it, screwed around with it for a little while, then broke it down and sold it for parts I'd probably make my money back on it right?
What do you guys think? Should I continue my search or pick it up? I'm going to try to go look at it tonight to see how bad it is.
I had a friend with a mirage not excatly a powerhouse or a good loking car but he was taking some year evo parts and throwing them at it including the engine and turbo he never finished but that should give you a thought in to what he was thinking.
i believe there was a mirage on pinks that used some of the awd drivetrain parts from an evo?...that'd be sweet!! talk about a sleeper
my personal opinion is it sounds like a waste. Yes, it will be good to learn body work on, and $200 is actually nothing. BUT if you dont like the car, then you'll be faking interest in it really. Personally, I would rather have a project car that I like, IMO its not worth learning the mechanics and playing with the body work on a car that in the end is still ugly and you wont like. For me to put everything (menally) into a car, I have to love it and love the outcome, otherwise I wont learn anything, nor will I have a strong desire to learn all the little tricks and be educated on the little problems of that particular car.
In short, Id say find a car that you actually like and you'll not only learn more but you'll want to know more about it

Excellent advice. Thanks. I'm going to go ahead and pass on it.
