new car ideas... need some opinions

Hey, well I'm thinking of purchasing a new car (thinking of it for a while) and kind of want a change. I've been looking at a few cars and need some opinions of what they work like, if they're good on fuel economy, how are they in the winter? i drive alot on the highway and well i need a comfortable ride. etc.

First i was looking at was a 2007 Cobalt SS supercharged 2 dr 5 speed. i noticed it for sale in a dealership and the price is 15,989. Any known problems with this brand of car?
Second was a 2005 Subaru WRX 4 door, but damn it was eye - catching. 5 speed and this was for sale in someones driveway. I test drove it and loved it but the person wanted 20,999 for it. Little too much but still anything wrong with these cars?
Third was a 2006 Honda Civic SI 2 door 6 speed. low mileage (15,000) and the price was 16,999. Anything majorly wrong with these cars? sounded great on the highway.
Fourth was a 2008 Toyota Corolla 4 dr automatic. has 49,000 on it kind of high for a 2 year old car. Any thing wrong with these? the price was 12,900 and it was actually comfortable(i drove it 1 km lol, the owner was in a rush to get to work)

I'm thinking of taking the cobalt for a test drive today anything i should look for?

Of all your choices I'd pick the WRX way over the rest.

How about an Acura RSX? Great car also!

Good luck!

yeah they want way too much for the wrx. there's plenty of 04-05's in my area for 10-12k.

Check out my build thread!

Buy the corolla. Cheaper, probably all hwy miles, and likely hasn't been ragged on at all. Plus you said it was comfortable, and your insurance will be cheaper. If you can find an elderly driven scoobie for the same price, then go for it. In then end, use you head and pick out your own car.

49,000 miles is a jog in the park for a Corolla. I have an '07, and I love it. Only problem I had was when I had to replace an 02 sensor (-50 C and a broken electrical connection to the parking lot was a Bad Thing). Since you're most likely nowhere near anywhere that sees these kinds of temperatures, it should be fine. My wife's insistance on an automatic was a let down, but it's still a fun little car. If the modding bug gets you, there's more than enough out there to make a decent ride (UR pulleys, a large assortment of intakes & exhausts, DC header, Coilovers, strut bars, CF stuff, body kits).

The cobalt would be the best bang for the buck in terms of performance, as they're cheap and the LSJ has a pretty good aftermarket.

The WRX would be the "halo car" out of these choices, but $21k is a lot to spend on a used Subie. People tend to beat the snot out of them, so a clean, well maintained WRX that hasn't had something broken on it is hard to find.

Keep your options open and look around some more. Good, older cars can come to you for cheap, too.

Yea i'm looking for a reliable DD because i need to travel alot for work. Something comfortable is a must, because i am 6'3 and in my current sunfire my legs hit the steering column alot and my head doesn't have very much clearence.

Hmm, i haven't even seen an RSX for sale in a while, they do look sharp.

Well i took the Cobalt for a test drive, first things first it wasn't an SS (it was a LS) someone put the decals on it so i test drove it. meh its inbetween.

So many decisions. I Don't know where to start. LOL i like the Subaru's alot so i might look for some more.
Thanks for giving me a little nudge in the decision.
