Well the GF and I were looking to move on from the old GTP. Sad to say, I know, but it was time.
We (well she) decided to get a 2008 Grand Cherokee Laredo. Pretty nice vehicle, and something she always wanted. I called the dealer and asked about it as I saw it online, and basically their business manager had been driving it for the last 3 months, and they had forgot about it. So they said it had to go, and fast since it had been there so long. They were asking around $25,000, and she got them to sell it for $18,500 + tax and warranty. Around $22,000 cash out the door.
So it is warrantied until Sept 2012, or 100,000kms. We don't pick it up until Tuesday, so no real picks yet, but here is the dealer's link.

What do you think?

they are a nice suv. But honestly I think you paid too much. They are going for 14-16k here with 25-35k miles.
I am in Canada, unfortunately we pay a lot more for vehicles then those south of the boarder. So, your price and mileage don't really apply to us.

gotcha didnt realize that. I had a 2004 grand cherokee laredo. Other than regular maintence I had no issues. What motor did you go with?
3.7, with the full time AWD. Not my first choice, but i think the full time AWD drive will be nice for her. She won't ever have to worry about were and when to use 4wd, or what 4wd to use. Just get in and drive.

I am fond of the 3.0 Diesels myself.

We have an 05 Grand Cherokee Laredo AWD with the 3.7 and have had zero problems with it. Other than I hate the stock Goodyear tires it does very well in snow. Looks to be a pretty good deal to me]:->

First thing we did was replace the stock Goodyears with a set of Firestone Destination AT's. So winter should be no worries at all for her.
Went on a 700km road trip in the weekend. One tank of gas there AND back! That impressed me. Averaged 21mpg according to the info centre. I was not expecting it to be 3 mpg better them my Sierra. That's for sure!
It was one nice smooth ride too, I was very impressed. Not typical "Jeep" like at all.

I agree with the smooth ride. I swear our Jeep rides smoother than our Pilot. Yeah we plan on changing out these stock tires with Bridgestone Alenza's as we had them on our Rodeo and they were really good in snow.
Look into the Destination AT's. They will be better in the snow, look better on the Jeep, and most likely cheaper too!

I have a soft spot for these, one of the better Vehicles Jeep builds. (Unlike the Patriot and Compass).

My only beef is they are butt ugly.
the 2nd gen was the best looking GC, that's why they are going back to that look when the 2011 model comes out.
2007 Corvette Z51 | Suzuki Swift GTi SCCA racer | 2008 Edge
I don't find it ugly. That's is just opinion though. I think it looks better then an Envoy/Trailblazer. But not better then some of the imports in its class. Like the Lexus SUV. Now that's a nice ride!

Hows the Jeep Holding up?
I am looking at getting one myself here shorty, and hope to be able to tow a boat with it. Whats the tow capacity on those with the 3.7?
Holding up great so far. I really don't know what the towing capabilities of the engine are, I don't drive it much. But what I have drove of it, I like it.
If you want to tow, there are two v8 options for the GC's. You don't have to go all the way to the 5.7L Hemi, I think there is like a 4.9L in the middle that would work nice.
