i recently sold my turbo cav and was given a truck by the owner of the ranch that i work at. i made a post on another forum and I dont think alot of ppl get on there and ive come back to the trusty org for help. let me copy and paste from the other forum
i recently sold my car and aquired a 1994 ford f-150 2wd, i was really into cars but needed a truck to get around the ranch in. my question is, is it possible to put a leveling kit like this one?
http://www.suspensionconnection.com/cgi ... 08F5L.html
and coil springs like these?
http://www.suspensionconnection.com/cgi ... 22811.html
to achieve a four inch lift? they are both two inches a piece im not gonna be using it for much other than country roads and would like to have it a bit higher with some bigger tires just to clear the holes and occasional debri in the road. plus i think it will look cooler lol. im new at all this but im guessin they sell blocks that can lift the rear 4 inches too? im just lookin for a budget lift since i will not be running the truck hard but still want some extra clearance and nicer looks, thanks guys!
or how about something like this body lift from summit racing to achieve a three inch body lift
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-7882300/
then then leveling kit or the springs to achieve a five inch lift? pardon my naiveness (if thats even a word lol) i just couldnt find that much info on this year ford, also how hard would it be to put that body lift on?
I own a f150 2wd also,but don't plan on raising it,the forum i go to is v6f150.com .
Check it out, even if yours isn't a v6 there are a lot of members who jack up their trucks, and lots of info there for the f150.
sounds good thanks man i was lookin for a good forum
i wouldn't raise a 2wd truck....seems like a waste
what's a 2wd truck, is one of the driveshafts broke or something?
Buy the time you spend the time and money lifting a 2wd you'd be better off selling it just buying a 4wd truck.
Body lifts look like crap and don't give you any more ground clearance. They allow you to stuff bigger tires under it which gives you a small amount of more ground clearance. You could just trim your wheel well to fit bigger tires if you're on a budget.
A lot of the time 2wd trucks have an open rear end which means one 1 wheel will spin and you'll get stuck all the time no matter what you do.
If you want a tough farm truck look for an old 3/4 or 1 ton 4x4 they will haul anything, tow anything, and go anywhere.
ok im not using it to go mudding or anything like that wat do i need a 4x4 truck if im not gonna need the front two tires? im not gonna go in any mud pits or anything. it was given to me wat more do i want? if u dont have any help on the subject just dont post figured this would happen get a 4x4, get an eco, get a manual tranny same crap all the time some ppl just make do with wat they have
^ It's called common sense..... that's why people tell you that.
Go buy longer coil springs for the front, put some blocks on the rear springs, and it will sit up higher so you can put on bigger tires. The other option is the body lift. Sounds like you already know what to do.
Not much knowledge on the subject out there because most people just buy a 4x4 if they want to go off road.

I think you may need to use some of your own logic and ask yourself, "If im not going to go mudding or anything like that, or go into any mudpits or anything, why do i need a lift?"
why put on a bodykit? why get a cf hood? why swap base bumpers for ls sport bumpers? cuz itll look nicer. cav owners dont put body kits on for the downforce lol so why cant i put a small lift to make it look nicer even tho im not gonna go mudding in it, and this truck pulls a 16 foot goose neck with four saddled horses just fine so im not lookin to sell it and get a 4x4

You can do whatever you want to your truck, its your truck. If you just want the look, get a body lift and maybe a leveling kit to bring the front up some.
sounds good thanks for the help man
Check out www.saoffroad.com they have few people here in SA with lifted 2wds.
You'll find that if doing heavy towing most people will not recommend lift blocks.

what he said...looking into some good quality spring packs...or if the leaf spring runs under the axle do a SOA(spring over axle)..which puts the spring on top of it..
And look into some coils for the front.
Or a body lift and get gap gaurds for the wheel wells to clean it up.
Rememeber kids... spell check is your friend
thanks for the help, and i figured blocks might make towing weird, i still dk wat im gonna do prolly just a body lift and leveling kit so i can still pull the gooseneck fine
